Before I start let me say that my mother is a VERY conservitive, very proper kind of woman. Not to mention she is almost 70 years old. This is inportant information for the following.....

About a week ago she called and asked me to bake a cake for her to take to a desert party. I thought aww that is sweet a bunch of little ol women are getting together to try each others deserts.

This evening she calls me to rimind her about her Sugar and Spice Party. Umm. What??:rotfl::rotfl:
This is how the conversatoin went:

Mom: Don't forget about my cake for my sugar and spice party.
Me: What?
Mom: My party on Saturday.
Me: Mother!!:scared1: Do you know what a Sugar and Spice party is!
Mom: It's a desert party isn't it?
Me: NO!

I then had to proceed to explain to her what these parties consist of. :lmao::lmao:

The funny part about this is almost every woman that was invited to this party is over the age of 60!:laughing::rotfl:
All I can imagine is a bunch of elderly women showing up with cakes and cookies getting the surprise of their life!

Maybe not funny to some and I apologize if I offend anybody. I personaly thought this was hilarious.

I'm not familiar with a Sugar and Spice party but I'm pretty sure I want an invite.:lmao:

I admit I had to google it, but you're right. I had an image of these little old ladies with their hands full of baked goods in lace trimmed floral dresses going :scared1: when the hostess brought out the merchandise. :rotfl:

What I wanna know is who is the hostess that invited all her friends to this party and does SHE know what kind of party she's throwing? :rotfl2:

I don't know about you guys but my Mom is 67 years old and would be glad to host a Sugar n' Spice party. She out does me on the dance floor, in the dirty joke department, and shops likes shes 20 years old.... maybe it's just me, but I don't think "almost 70" is anything to shake a bootie at anymore:rotfl:

I googled too. I was immediately reminded of Made of Honor- Grandma wearing glow in the dark necklace.:rotfl::rotfl2:

Ohhh, just went back to read your post...very conservative and proper???:scared1: Well, maybe it's time to live a little:rotfl:

Okay,what's your mother's favorite desert? Gobi,Sahara,or Mojave?

I have NO idea. I'll be willing to bet that the phone lines are ringing off the hook though.:lmao:

This reminds me of my grandpa taking a date to see Oh! Calcutta! on Broadway years ago because he thought, based on the name, that it was a show about India. :rotfl2: Needless to say, they didn't stay very long.

Another one who's never heard that term for a party. Going to google now. I'm wondering why hostess would invite her conservative friends if its what I think it is.

I don't know about your mom, but I think it is beyond hysterical when people in their 20s and 30s talk about those of us in our 50s and 60s like we don't have sex. Let's see -- no little kids to interrupt, no fear of pregnancy, lots of experience . . .

Can you imagine if she didn't mention to you the name of the party??

I can see them all now, playing the Alphabet Game.....:scared1: Although, I must say, the last time I went to one, a co-worker in her late 50's came up with a word for Q!!!

:thumbsup2
my aunt and cousin were cleaning at my great-aunts and saw things that she could have bought at one of those parties. and the great-aunt was 92 years old!!

:thumbsup2 Seriously!

OMG, 60 yr old "little old ladies"? My mother's 87, and she barely thinks of herself as a little old lady!

There's only one nasty thing I can think of. Eww...

So funny. So true. I stopped taking for granted what the older set knew, was interested in, etc. when I found sex books in my grandmother's attic.

Knowing my Mom, she would die if she went to one of those parties and didn't know what it was before hand. I would laugh hysterically and would love to be there to see it. She would be all shades of red!
