I must say...I had a trip that from top to bottom reinforced the love of Disney Magic.

As written previously, 6 nights a Boardwalk was tremendous.

Our first stay at Vero (3 Nights - 2/10-2/13) was a wonderfully magical way to cap off the joy.

1) First...the people.

The CM's at VB were all absolutely great.

Joline may be the best waitress on the planet.

Denise, Amanda and the rest of the recreation staff made it a joy to participate in events and my boys (especially my 5 year old) were kept more than entertained. From the sports (Bocce, Slide races) to the events (unbirthday party, scavenger hunt, Disney Kids Club), this was a one stop shop fo a relaxing few days.

2) The Facilities were wonderful too.

The pool is great...The slide is the fastest at any of the WDW resorts I've stayed at (and made the slide races fun!). The Tiger Lily, was indescribably fun for my 2 year old. He simply could not get enough of the water cannons. slide "steering" the ship. I even went on the ship and got "yelled" at (I and just over the 48" height limit), but even this was done with a smile (both from me and the lifeguard with the unenviable job of coming over and asking me not to go on the ship any more.

I also rode a waverunner on the Atlantic Ocean...this was simply awesome

Shutters is one of the better Disney restaurants. Aside from Joline's over the top friendly and excellent service, the food was all great and reasonably priced. We ate their 2 nights and were nothing but impressed.

3) The room was great. Nothing like a room with a view. Nothing against a "Boardwalk" view or a "Castle" view or any other great WDW views, a view of the Atlantic Ocean with the steady pounding of the surf, was downright soothing. The room had a leaky sink which was repaired within 1/2 hour of making a call.

4) If there is one negatice to VB it is its remote location. It takes 20 minutes to go almost anywhere (although there is a Publix about 10 minutes away). If I were to stay for longer than 3 or 4 nights, this might be a minor annoyance, but it actually adds to the relaxing atmosphere on a shorter trip (and for others, likely on longer trips as well).

We will DEFINITELY return to VB. I have very little doubt that it will become a frequent stop on our frequent Florida Forrays.

I went for a first trip to Vero last December. I too loved it. I found it very relaxing, but it still had enough to do to keep from feeling bored. I plan on making it a regular part of my Disney vacation plans. Sandie

Glad you had a great time! Hopefully, memories of the ocean will get you through the rest of this "stinkin" winter. That's funny about being scolded for getting on the "ship". It sure is tempting -- I had to resist giving it a try myself. ;)

Thanks, we will be there for the first time a few days before easter in an oceanview inn, i was a little nerves about having things to do, but it sounds like it wont be to laid back for us.
we love the gulf side and it takes us about a week before we can just sit still on the beach sunning, and then after that you cant get us off the beach, we are even one of those people that take turns getting down to the beach first thing in the morning to claim our chairs and cabana, and then coming home with the best tans, yeah i cant wait, vero here we come.........

and ill try not to get caught on the ship

Another great report!
The slide is the fastest at any of the WDW resorts I've stayed at (and made the slide races fun!).
And I would think that the style of slide at Vero would match the decor of OKW quite well too. I was thinking about that when folks were "discussing" the possible design of a slide at OKW.

Thanks for the report. I'm glad you had a great vacation. We are going to be there for a 5 night stay strating this Sunday February 22nd followed by 5 nights at VWL. We can't wait.
We have two boys aged 5 and 7 and we are interested in the activities you mentioned (e.g. Slide races, scavenger hunt, unbirthday party). Is there a charge for this or are all the evnets and activities free?

Thanks,

Cygnus

All of these activities were free of charge (as was the Bocce, Wednesday get complimentary mini-golf, Campfire (great Smores!), art projects...and lots more). There is a weekly schedule of events hosted by the Recreation staff. They also have a huge supply of games and sports equipment to borrow free of charge.

In addition, there are some events which are not complimentary. The Waverunner, for example, cost about $55 and the Disney kids club (3 hours of supervised activities for kids over the age of 4 - 5:00 to 8:00 pm) cost $30. I imagine for someone on a set budget, you can find more than enough to do without spending much if any money to do it.

Have a great trip! :)
