I love reading trip reports, so I thought I'd post my first! We (me, DH, our twin girls, age 10 and my parents) arrived at Vero on Sat, 4/18 at around 5:30. It took us about 1 hour 20 min. from Orlando airport. We had a 2 bedroom lock-off. We were facing the ocean, but we couldn't see it from our balcony. We were in rooms 1229 & 1230 in building 12- 2nd floor. I still loved our room. The balcony was surrounded by palm trees. It was shady but warm. Beautiful! The room are spacious and clean. Easy walk to the Inn, pool and beach. We stayed until Wed, 4/22. Every day was gorgeous. Most mornings were spent at the pool and we would go to the beach after lunch. I would say the pool chairs were never more than 50% occupied. We bought refillable mugs which was one of the best moves we made. Around noon on Monday, the love bugs arrived in giant swarms. They drove us out of the pool area - but that was the only time we saw them during our stay. A CM told me they stay for about a week every year. Each lives for only 2 days and that they were "brought in" to eat mosquitoes. Mistake! We never saw any no seeums.
On our first night, we ate at Shutters. We were there for 2 hours! We were not happy with the wait, but at 1 point our waitress was crying so we didn't complain. All the food was great! My daughter has Celiac Disease and the chef prepared her some grilled shrimp. The garlic mashed potatoes are delish.
On our second night we had Orchid pizza delivered. Again, delish! On nights 3 and 4 we ate at Captain Manatees. Their food was also very good. A meal for 2 adults and 2 kids was $60 before tip. On the fourth night, we attempted to eat at Squid Lips. It was SO Loud we had to leave. I am a kindergarten teacher, so I do not have tender ears - this place was LOUD. Louder than T-Rex. It may have just been the crowd that night. We had the Sunday brunch at Shutters, too. That was the best buffet brunch I have had at any Disney restaurant. The crepes and made to order omelets were yummy! The chef made DD gluten free pancakes. I'm sure I forgot a lot of details about the trip - but I'll post if I think of anything. We really enjoyed our stay. We moved on to BWV on Wed. I'll post about that on another day.

Thanks for the report! Squid Lips is not a great place for a family, kinda a "rough" crowd. If you were to take a left out of the resort, 15 min. down the road is Vero Beach..very upscale! Some great restaraunts too. Maybe on your next trip!:thumbsup2
