Hi All
Hope this is hte right board

Just a quick question, can we use Vero Beach points at the DVC locations at WDW? We are thinking of buying some VERO Beach points to use as we get closer to retirement and but want to make sure we can use them at OKW also as we LOVE the parks.

Is there any drawbacks to doing it that way besides the booking Window if Vero is our home resort?

Thanks Dave Goofydad Dionne

No drawbacks whatsoever...i own at HH and go to WDW just about every year at some point...we went to vero last year for 3 days and beach club for 2...my wife gripes at me all the time for not buying at vero now lol....you have the same 7 month window as everybody else

yes and no. You should always buy only where you would be happy as having as your home resort. As you suggest they would likely be times when where you wanted to stay at WDW may not be available at the 7 month window.

There is a very small chance that one day DVC might limited members to only using their home resort for their points - but this isn't likely in my mind.

The biggest "drawback" would be that as a VB owner you will be paying the highest dues of the entire DVC system. Over time paying $2 per point per year (or more) at VB when compared say to SSR or OKW - will add up to a whole lot of $$$

I own at VB, BWV and OKW...because I want to ensure I have the 11 month window at each of those resorts.

:thumbsup2 only reason we hang on to our VB points is the 11 month window for Beach Cottages.

What is the weather like at VB in Jan/Feb?

I realize this might not be overly helpful, but it's honest when I say it can be anything - just like the rest of FL. From freeze alerts to the mid 80's. VB is 99.7% of the time breezy...and that can add to a feeling of 'coolness' if you're on the beachside. The pool however is very sheltered from the wind and is good almost all of the time (and of course heated).

I have been to VB in Jan before and even with 4 layers of clothes felt cold when exposed to the wind, but also, same time different year we were in shorts/tee's and appreciated coming into AC.

Feburary - especially later in the month (as with most all of FL) has more even temps and by N/E standards they're great!
