I have a big trip planned next summer with banked and borrowed points for my whole family and grandkids (they will be 2 and almost 5). With all of the resort nonsense I am wondering if it might be better to go to HH or Vero. I've never been to either. I was thinking late June or July for WDW in the hope that the later I put it off the less likely the nonsense will be in place. (I know it's hot, but I'm a teacher and I'm concerned about when my school year will end and if they change the calendar due to the virus this year--and not the 4th of July ). Is it difficult to get Vero or HH for late June or mid July?

We had no problem booking VBR at 7 months. We are staying in a 1BR June 29-July 4.

HHI is possible in May and September, but hardly available in June, July, August.

Agree with comments above - HHI harder in the summer. We are Vero owners and live about 3 hr drive away so sometimes we will decide to go for a long weekend just a month or so in advance in the summer and usually can get something. The 3 bedroom cottage is what goes fast (and they are amazing!) We booked HHI for this summer with less than 7 months and grabbed a day here, there and were able to put 5 nights in a row together and believe that was an accomplishment! If you are needing multiple units in the summer I think you have a better shot at Vero v. HHI.

For both the 3BRs are quite difficult throughout the summer. For other rooms, HH can be more difficult than VB. That is particularly true if seeking studio or 1BR at HH (all of which are part of only 21 2BR lock-offs), with chances for a dedicated 2BR (76 total) being better after July 6. VB inn rooms (standard) are typically open throughout summer, studios are often difficult, and often decent chances for 1BRs and 2BRs.

Thanks! I have been thinking about a 2BR and a studio because my middle child probably can't go for an entire week straight. I would probably prefer Vero and my oldest could still drive from Pensacola. Just looking for different options. for a once in a lifetime trip, I don't think WDW would work right now.
