We loved our first stay this year at BCV. We did the parks marathon style and are looking for a more laid-back vacation next summer. We were thinking of transferring next year's ressies to Vero at the 7th mo window, but we are having doubts.

We don't want to do the parks again next year. We are looking to do something different. So Vero sounded like the answer. The problem is, we are not really big on water, or fishing. We are 6 adults so we don't have to worry about occupying the kiddies.

We are concerned there is not enough to do at Vero for 6 days. We can rent a car and go to Kennedy Space Center (we're not outlet mall shoppers), but if you don't go in the water, what else is there.

If we stay at BCV (where we have booked a 2 BR 2 Q) we have access to the best pool on the property. We can spend a day at the water parks if we want. We have tons of resturants to choose from instead of 3 at Vero. We can visit DD when we get bored. We can rent a car and spend a day or two off the property. It just seems we have access to so much more on Disney property. Why go to Vero?

I'm not going to suggest VB. I never been there and will leave that to those who have. I will say that the nicest thing about DVC is not having to do the commando thing. Go to the BCV and relax. Make a point of NOT going to the parks every day. Enjoy yourself by slowing down. You'll be back next year or sooner.

Instead of Vero, why not Hilton Head? There's lots and lots and lots to do around here, plus plenty of great restaurants. We have friends that do both Vero and HH with the DVC, only going to WDW about once every 3-4 years. Like you, they prefer the more laid-back vacation.

I would consider breaking it up - 2 or 3 nights at Vero, and 2 or 3 nights at WDW.

We really like Vero and could probably stay there that long but, if you don't enjoy the water, then you may get a little bored.

We'll be there for 4 nights next weekend - can't wait!

I too, suggest that you split your stay.

We went to VB in March for 4 nights, and the ocean was not conducive to swimming due to far away storms. The Harborview Oceanographic Institute is a great place to visit for a day. There we took a narrated boat ride along the river and also toured the institute where we learned a lot about fish farming and ocean exploration. There is a botanical garden nearby (we're going there the next time) and in March, the weather was fine for taking a bike ride along the Jungle Trail. We went to a nearby nature center that was having a festival. We also traveled (far) to Blue Springs State park. This park is a lot closer to WDW, but we "adopt" a manatee, Brutus, who spends his winters in there, and we wanted to see the place. (We didn't see Brutus, but we did see another manatee and there is also another wonderful informative boat ride.) From VB we went to Key Largo for 3 nights, it was great seeing another side of Florida.

Why go to Vero?
We love the ocean. No pressure to do anything but relax and enjoy the family's company. During spring break and christmas, sometimes the parks and WDW can be just too crowded. Vero's almost always relaxing accept when over run by local pool crashers.

We own at BCV and Vero, so of course we go to both resorts. Vero is more peaceful and relaxing than BCV for us, even when we don't include much "park time". Each DVC resort has it's own advantages, we are very pleased with our BCV and Vero combination. We haven't tried the beach cottages yet, but we look forward to doing so.

HH is certainly nice, and HH more of a recreation community, but we miss not being directly on the beach. Many times we stop by the ocean while whalking back from a restaraunt and sit on the bench on the beach access walk and look at the stars while hearing the ocean. It seems like there are a ton of stars because of the wonderful restrictions Vero has on beach lights shining out to disturb the turtle nesting areas. While swimming in the pool late at night, you can hear the ocean waves. And there's even that wonderful view of the ocean from the top of the pool slide tower as well as from the Green Cabin room, while eating some lunch. BCV is a bit more hectic. Sometimes that's a blast. Sometimes the family times at Vero are just what the doctor ordered, and can't be replaced.
