Vero July or August?

Since joining DVC, we have taken our main vacation in WDW in August every year except one. We are considering trying VB next summer instead. Since I am a teacher, we can vacation anytime in the summer. We've always gone in August because crowd levels and points drop after the middle of August. Are there any significant difference between July and August at VB? I'm assuming weather patterns are similar, and we are accustomed to dealing with the threat of hurricanes. Are crowd levels much different at different times in the summer at Vero? Any other considerations I should be aware of?

like wdw - it has plenty of thunder storms in the summer.

Aug would be a little less crowded (for now) - alot of the south goes back to school in Aug.

We're at Vero Beach right now. The resort is full, but the area in general isn't. We just took DD16 and DD19 for surfing lessons at Pepper Park, about 19 miles from the resort - there couldn't have been even 100 people on the beach there this morning. I understand that weekends are busier, but still nothing like what we experienced at Myrtle Beach in July a couple of years ago.

No difference! Palm Beach County -Indian River County (Vero) schools go back August 20th this year, a week later than usual!
