Vero in May

We just return from a couple of days at the Vero Beach. It was a beautiful place, except there were a lots of bugs. I mean a lots of bugs everywhere.
Does anyone know, if it is typical for Vero to get a lot of bugs during May? Should we avoid Vero Beach in May in the future?

I imagine you're speaking of love bugs. They tend to frequent most of florida in May and September. It's a short cycle, but some years they can get really bad. I have been fortunate enough to never experience a bad year.
