I've only been to VB once and really liked it. We flew into Orlando and drove down. I was wondering if there is a closer airport - how does everyone else go? We're thinking of going in May, but will not be doing DW - so wondered if Tampa was an easier drive~

The nearest airport is Melbourne. It's about 35 miles north of Vero. Delta may be the only airline that flies in to MLB.

Tampa would be much further than Orlando. There are Melbourne or West Palm a little closer but from Indy where we fly out of they both involve connections. So we fly to Orlando and often do a OKW/Vero vacation.

We are going to Vero Beach Mother's Day weekend and I have been pricing out flights to the other airports (Melbourne and West Palm) and I can tell you that the flights from Dallas to the other two airports are twice as much as flying into Orlando. :scared1:

If you happen to find any flight deals please PM me.:wizard:

We have done both West Palm and Orlando. Both are about the same time and distance to Vero. I like West Palm becuase it's a bit less crowded and smaller than Orlando, BUT the big negative (IMHO) about West Palm is you need to take a shuttle bus to the car rental, and the cars aren't covered. This was a problem for us last time we flew there. Try putting in a car seat and luggage in a rain storm. Fun.

Currently, Airtran has a fair sale for May flights. The price out of DFW is $79 each way. You may try and see how much they are running from your area.

Take my word. Orlando airport is the your best bet for the follwing reasons..

1.Cheaper flights
2.Non-stop flights
3.Cheaper car rentals
4.Bigger selection of airlines and flight times

I have flown 2x a month the last 18 months and ONLY fly out of Orlando.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info. I thought there were some very good reasons why we flew into Orlando last time - I think you probably mentioned them all!

Thanks for the info. I did check and only Delta flys from my area and there are no "non-stop" listed

I really appreciate that info as we will be traveling with two car seats!

If you ever want to give West Palm (PBI) a try, Delta and Jet Blue have non-stops out of Logan. Jet Blue may also fly out of some other MA/NH area airports too.
