I am going to DVB next week and I'm looking for input on things to do, places to see, good restaurants etc. This is our first time. We are in our late 50's with no children.

Thanks

I hope you have a wonderful time. We spent four days there last year with our children (20's) and loved the Green Cabin room at the resort. Great place for a light dinner, after dinner drinks and dessert. There was live music every night. We had breakfast at Shutters, felt like we were at Disney and the food was great. Ocean Grill was very good but I felt a bit overpriced. We went to Carrabas which is a chai, excellent food and reasonable prices. We wanted to go to Tangos since we've read great reviews but they were closed that wedek for vacation!!! We didn't venture out to do any sightseeing last year since the weather was to die for and we are ocean lovers. This year we are planning to go to West Palm Beach to the Flagler Museum/Estate. I know you'll have a great time.

We were there over Spring Break a few weeks ago. It was fantastic. I also recommend Ocean Grill and Captain Hairims. We did not do much sightseeing. We were beach and pool bums. Have a great trip. :sunny:

We'll be at Vero for the first time this September...I'm soaking all that I can in from the boards!

May is the perfect time of year to go to Vero Beach.

We just came home from a month in Vero Beach and there is a lot to do. There is the Enviromental Learning Center over the Wabasso Bridge, McKee Botanical Gardens is also wonderful and has a great little cafe for lunch.

Head down A1A south to Jaycee Park and Conn beach. Take a left at Jaycee Park and follow to boardwalk to "the Red Onion" on the right.......great place for lunch but be prepared to wait for a seat....it's usually crowded.

There is the Vero Beach Art Museum in Riverside park, and there are usually activites in downtown Vero. There are all kinds of local festivals in Sebastian (north on Route 1) and at Riverside Park. They were scheduling Saturday concerts for the spring at Humisted Park on Ocean Road when we left.

The Vero Beach Community Theater is done for this season but keep them in mind if you ever go from October to March. Riverside Theater is a large venue and the Broadway version of "Chicago" played until April.

Have a great time.

Edited to add: The Vero Beach Dodgers Holman Stadium is close by too. Tickets to the games are cheap and it's a nice stadium.

We went to the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute for their tour and took a boat ride on the Indian River. We were there one March and there were manatees along the docks at the institute.

We enjoy riding bikes along the historic jungle trail, and someone has said you can take it all the way to Sebastian. We've never done that, we just followed the guide map you get from Eb and Flo's.

We enjoy eating at Captain Hiram's and have eating all of our off site meals there, we really enjoy their seafood!

Have a great time!

Bobbi :)

anyone know where I can view menu's of Sonya's and Shutters??

Also, can anyone give me more details about Sunday brunch??

thanks!

Have fun! We love this resort, nice and relaxing! We did not eat at the resort restaurants. Besides the restaurants listed, we enjoyed Squid Lips, but don't bother with mulligans...instant mashed potatoes etc....

Next time we will do more touring...just sat in the pool or rode the waves for 5 days after 10 days in WDW

Do NOT-- repeat--do NOT-- try to order a pizza by the pool. I seriously thought there was no such thing as a pizza my family would not eat, but this one was so bad we had to take it back-- and we were STARVING from traveling all day. I am working up the energy to write a Vero post. We were there over Easter, and while the resort is lovely, we were underwhelmed by the food, the service, etc.
Green Cabin room is a lovely place for a drink with a view, but I would not order food there again, either-- and we are not picky people. Soggy tired Caesar salad, undercooked mozzarella sticks--you know the kind you can buy at the supermarket?--you get the picture.
In short, if you are there for the view, you will love it. Just pack your own food, be prepared to go offsite, or pay for Sonya's, which is good but pricey. The good news is that they accept the DDE credit now.
If you are coffee fiends, there is a Dunkin Donuts north on Route 1 about 5 miles. Nice AM drive, with the sun rising over the water.
