Does one fly into Orlando for this - or is there another FL airport that is closer.

Nonetheless - how far/long from the airport to VB?

Thanks.

We will be flying into Orlando and renting a car to drive to Vero.
We are spending 4 nights at Vero and then 6 nights at Boardwalk.

We always fly into Orlando because the flights are less expensive than flying into West Palm Beach or Melbourn airports. It only takes approximately 1 1/2 hours to drive to Vero from the Orlando Airport. However, we usually stop for lunch or dinner along the way depending on the time of day. It isn't a bad drive. The drive goes pretty quickly. You also will pass by Orange Groves and depending on the time of year, there may be oranges & grapefruits on the trees. The first time our son saw the orange groves he thought it was neat!!!

We fly into Orlando because we usually go to Vero for several nights first and then go to WDW (I know... just the opposite of what most folks do!!). But, if we were only going to Vero, we'd probably try to fly into West Palm since it's closer.

For us, the flights are not as frequent as to Orlando so that's also a consideration. The Melbourne airport is quite small and the schedule more limited, but again, if we were only going to Vero and the fare and schedule worked we'd do it. We had to make a detour to the Melbourne airport last year when we had problems with our National rental car -- airport was nice, not as hectic as Orlando.

If you fly Delta (through Cincinnati or Atlanta) you can get to Melbourne which is closer to VB.(35-40mins) That is about the only Airline choice you have now, as most have pulled out of MLB. Also some of Delta's flights into MLB are operated by Delta's regional carriers which use the smaller Regional Jets (50 pax) if that makes a difference.

West Palm Beach is another alternative, but Orlando will give you the biggest choice of airline options from your area.

I like the Melbourne airport. Yes, it costs a little more than flying into MCO, and it's a connecting flight for me whereas I can fly direct into MCO, but it's such a small, easy airport to deal with. It's about 45 minutes to Vero. I like not having to take a chance with interstate hang-ups on our return flight day. West Palm Beach is another option, but it's even more expensive for me out of Memphis.

We always fly into Orlando, and then rent a car to get to Vero...

It's a non stop flight from Detroit to Orlando, and the flights are about $100 cheaper...
