Hi~

We are planning to go to Vero Beach for a couple of days at the end of June. We have a DS that is 7 ...Do you have any suggestions?

Only suggestion I would have is to enjoy. There are plenty of things to do for kids and as a family. Enjoy the ocean and the pool and the weather. Vero Beach is great.:thumbsup2

Make sure you read through the list of daily activities you will be given at check-in. There are quite a few things for kids to do. Some have a fee - some do not.

Also - make sure you bring a really good bug repellant with you and use it! Those noseeums can and will eat you alive if you are like me and bugs find you tasty.

We love VB only problem is that there aren't any lifeguards on the beach.

The noseeums aren't too bad in June.:)

We have been there 4 times - always in June and each time if I forgot the replent I was eaten alive. Maybe you just got lucky... or I got very UNlucky.

Our kids had a lot of fun at the singalong campfire. Check the list of activities you get when you check in for days and times. They also liked the pool games. We rented bikes one afternoon and went for a nice ride. It was great -- no hills!

We loved Vero. Enjoy!

Boy, I must have been asleep to mis a VB request. End of June is "school's out" time for most districts so if you haven't already you need to be making your ressies now. This is a great time of year for temps & weather. We have been to VB about 8 times and the only time we have had a problem with no-see-ums is at and after dusk. VB has real waves, and no, they do not have lifeguards on the beach, so I wouldn't let my 7 yr old go into the ocean without a leash (figuratively or literally, you choose). Otherwise the pool has the best lifeguards I think of any DVC resort.

Here is my default blurb on what there is to do.

The resort provides daily activities for kids & adults with the best CMs of all the resorts.

They have a nice pool & Lighthouse w/spiral waterslide, a REALLY cool water play area for the real young kids, a hot Jacuzzi, miniature golf, exercise room, ping pong, bike rentals, The Green Cabin Room (bar/restaurant) has 2nd floor covered deck that has a fantastic view of the ocean and is a nice place to relax with your favorite beverage. It also has live entertainment in the evenings. At night they have a campfire / s’more roast (bring the Cutter Advanced to fend off the No-see-ums). You can rent a small catamaran or jet-ski for ocean fun. Across the street they have a lake, picnic tables, nature trail, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Disney built a private tunnel under the road to access this area. And of course they have the ocean and great waves for boogy boarding. Everything from the ocean to the pool to your room is no more than 2 minutes away walking. So it is real easy to break up your day

Five minutes away is Pelican Island and a wildlife education center. Also minutes away is Sebastian Inlet were the Indian River meets the ocean. There are many good fishing spots around the inlet, and there are river excursions where you can see dolphins, manatee, and tons of other types of wildlife. About an hour away is Cape Canaveral, (where the Magic and Wonder dock), the Kennedy Space Center (with museums, tours, and shows), and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with walking and driving tours.

Have a great time :beach:

Off the Disney property, where are good restaurants to eat at? I once went into Vero Beach but I wasn't sure where I was. I think I was in a not so hot area and quickly turned around, went back to Melbourne and ate at the only restaurant off the road, a big Cowboy picture was on the outside of the place, it wasn't fancy but very good food. Anyhow, where are good places to tour and not so good places to stay away from? I really don't know the area that well, but want to go down this summer. Thanks.

Thank you so much for the information everyone, it was very helpful!
