Can you tell me what there is to do at Vero in Feb.? Just DH and I- we will have a car.

I hate those long threads. There is going to be a lot of construction going on starting Feb 9. The beaches will be closed during the week I hear, and they will be directing guests to nearby beaches that are open. The county is redoing abut 22 miles of beaches so this is not Disney's fault. But being Disney, I'm sure they will bend over backward to make your stay enjoyable. I am interested in learning about other things to do. Like golf for instance. We go with my husband's sister and she is really into golf so when we go with her we stay at WDW. We had originally planned on going to Vero Beach next week, but we changed to WDW because of the beach construction. Although I would have loved to watch it from my patio. My DH did not think so.

Rigsby25,
You may hate reading, but all the answers to your questions (and 99 % of ALL questions) are contained therein. Even if all you do is to read the FAQ (in post #1 of that thread I believe) there are many recommendations of area attractions.

The biggest value in consolidated threads is that if 1 person a day (for example) asks "what is there to do?"...it's less likely others who know will have the time to work up 365 answers, but often folks can be directed to realible information on the consolidated threads. It is much more efficient to first consult the standing body of work, then ask for clarifications etc.

Thanks for the info!
Aw, that's bad news about the construction, Rigsby- we will be there during the week- I am bummed- we have an ocean view room- I hope it isn't too messed up by the construction

We like to bike ride on the Historic Jungle trail, and you can get info right from where you rent the bikes at VB, and the weather in February should be perfect for bike riding.

that sounds very cool! thanks!

Can you tell me what the chair swap is? I saw one for 2009, but not for 2010.

What I can tell you is that sadly, the chair swap has been cancelled by the owner of the DIS board. So it is no longer....I'm sorry.

No I don't hate reading! I subscribe to that thread and am up on everything! But I like to answer people's questions rather than have them go through 8 pages to find an answer. I don't remember reading about the golfing though.

We are going in March for the week leading into Easter....got excited because our waitlist came thru for an OVIR.....probably because of the construction. BUT we would rather be on vacation then at home....so we will make the best of it!!!!!

We are partial to the kayak tours. We had the greatest time on one. Disney hosts one or you can go to one of the kayak tour operators who offer a few different tours during the week.

I'm enjoying the new search engine! The last one the DISboards used was such a dog I had given up ever searching for anything on the boards. pluto: I can now search again!

Can you tell me why? Is this a "banned" subject?
DH and I were talking yesterday about possibly buying "cheap" chairs at Walmart. If we do this can we donate them at Bell Services for someone who would be arriving after us?

I don't think the subject is banned. I think they had to discontinue the tradition because of collecting money to buy the chairs. I think you can donate things to pass. I could be wrong, I wasn't involved with the chair swap. I think the problem arose on the Budget board.

I'm not sure Bell Services would want to get involved. A lady on this board bought some Walmart chairs and she didn't want to bring them home on the plane because of the baggage charges, etc. So she said she would leave them for me. When I mentioned "Chair" - at the front desk not bell services - they went ballistic! I just saw someone using their pc in the hallway on our last day, so I gave our chairs to her.

We have bought chairs in the past and on the last day looked for someone on the beach who might want them :) then just asked that they pass them along to someone when they were finished with them. DH and I found a couple with two young kids and they were thrilled to get them:thumbsup2

You could always suggest to her to reviews the posts I linked to for you so she could make up her own mind for a future trip. :)
