My DH and I are considering buying some points at VB for trips to the beach to add to our WDW trips each summer.

He is a big fan of being ocean front and would only be interested in the rooms where you can see the ocean from the balcony.

I assume that Ocean View rooms and the Beach Cottages fit this category. Do any of the other room types have ocean view? Any insight in to what we would be getting would be great!

Thanks!

A few of the upper floor 2BR villas (and lock-offs) will have an ocean view. We have stayed in a 1BR with an ocean view, but those are requests only and there are not a lot of them. otherwise, the best views are from the Beach Cottages and then the OVIR.

Even with a villa without the ocean view, it's fun to go and enjoy the view, the libations and the entertainment from the Green Cabin room at the resort.

I bought into Vero Beach in February 2010, and this is my first time "Home." I'm in a Deluxe Inn Room, Garden View, and its absolutely fabulous. The beach is just on the other side, and out of my balcony I get a wonderful view of the park across the street that is part of the resort. I checked out the other buildings as far as views. If you really want an ocean view, go for it. But I'm just happy being here. :)

If OV is important, VB is not a good option. Better to consider maybe one of the OF Marriott resorts in FL or SC for an OF unit or another similar resort. There are many options out there. Costs will vary a lot by week and resort but will be a fair amount higher for a unit that has a guaranteed OF location.

Thanks for the feedback. When DH goes to the beach, facing the ocean is really important.

It sounds like the only way to guarantee the view is get just an OV room or maybe the beach cottage.

It may or may not be worth it in the long run but it is something we are considering in terms of adding on more points. I don't think we are interested in this point in owning any other timeshares, but, if spending an entire week at the ocean becomes a must, then that would be an option we investigate.

Looking out my OVIR right now and you can't beat the view:thumbsup2
Guess it also depends on what room type you want, but for DH and I the inn room is all we need. When i make my reservation i ask for "direct" ocean view.
We're on the 3rd floor and the view is incredible!!!

For an Inn room you have a good chance if you request appropriately. For other units it's more hit or miss and more likely to miss. You can always rent a given week at a condo, house or timeshare for the occasional trip.

I think that we would also be fine with just the inn room. At this point, two of our three children are college age so our trips are down to just DH, DD14, and me--no reason the room would not fit our needs for the few nights we are considering.

It might also be something for me and my DD to use during school breaks, without DH. I teach and may begin going for a few nights in Feb just to get away from the cold and snow up north. DH wouldn't be with us so we would be okay with a different view.

We are big Ocean people too, but at Vero, we usually take the view like the it's a lottery. There really are no "bad" views, you can still hear the ocean from your rooms..except maybe the standard inn rooms. We are more studio people and have been very happy with our rooms there each time. The Quality of the room and the resort seem to make the rooms not having a direct ocean view not so bad. We do love to watch the water too!:hippie:
