We LOVE HHI because of the pool, beach and laid back environment. We have never been to Vero and are thinking it might be fun to try next summer. We are thinking 1 week @ WDW and maybe a week @ vero. Is a week too long for VERO? Should we do 9 nights @ WDW and 5 nights @ Vero?

Anyway, we are trying to decide between a 1 bedroom or an Ocean View Inn room. If we were there for a week would you want to be able to cook in the Villa (like at HHI)? Are there any 1 bedrooms in the INN? Where are the 1 bedrooms located? Do you have a beach view? What room would be the easiest to get at the 7 month window for a summertime trip a 1 bedroom or an OV Inn Room? Help! :confused3

VB is a great place to relax. Especially if you enjoy the beach!
I can't advise you on the proper lenght of your visit -- other than to say if I weren't sure I'd start small and if I liked it, go back again for a longer stay.

I believe all of the ocean view rooms in the inn are the standard inn rooms. There might be some 1 bedroom rooms facing 'town'. If I were going for a week (to any DVC resort) I'd want the ability to cook in our unit (we like to cook - your mileage may vary! ). The 1 bedrooms I'm sure of are in the surrounding buidlings. An ocean view cannot be guarantted - but requesting one won't hurt.

We have a daughter who hates the beach and the sea, but we all love Vero Beach. Because there are only 3 of us, we like an ocean view room in the Inn. This is because you really feel in the heart of the action, you can just walk up the stairs (or take the lift) to bed after a very pleasant evening in the Green Cabin Room. Because of the low light conditions enforced (because of the turtles on the beach), and because I have very poor night vision, getting to and from the 1 bed houses to the Inn can be a challenge. Also, the parking is below the Inn and you can take the lift from the garage to your floor. If you can get a corner room in the Inn, they are a little roomier. We are going for 5 nights in July and it won't be too long for us!

Thanks fellow fool :grouphug:

This is the information I am looking for. Since you don't have a kitchen where do you like to eat when you are staying @ Vero?

Hey Fool,

Shutters and Sonyas are both great. Apparently there is a new pizza place very close - that has opened since we were there last. The town of Vero Beach has some very cool restaurants, diners, cafes. Everyone talks of Captn Hirams, just along the intracoastal. It is in a great location and the food is OK. The Ocean Grill in the town is wonderful. My father still says that he had the best duck dish in his life there. He was a chef so he should know!!! It is right on the beach and is dark, cool and intimate.

As mentioned, there are no 1-br units in the main Inn building. There are three other buildings, all 3 floors high, with 6 units on each floor. These buildings are 'U' shaped, with only the bottom of the 'U' directly facing the ocean. The two units at the tip of each leg of the 'U' are 2-br dedicated units. The other four are lock-offs, so with a 1-br you have a better chance of getting a unit facing the ocean. However, there is still a lot of landscaping and possibly the Beach Cottages between the unit and the ocean. These three buildings also have parking below the units, with direct access to the elevators.
The Ocean View Inn rooms have a much better view, but I always enjoy the roominess of the 1-br, especially for a stay longer than 2 or 3 days.

Great information! Thanks :thumbsup2

We were thinking a week. Now I am thinking 5 nights for the first time and staying longer @ WDW ;) Still trying to decide between Inn and 1 bedroom. I like the idea of being in the Inn and closer to the pool and campfire area, but the 1 bedroom with the kitchen, jacuzzi and laundry in the unit is hard to beat!

Will it be difficult to get Vero @ 7 months for a July or August stay? More in rooms or 1 bedrooms?

My son(13) and I are going for Memorial Day weekend for the first time.
We are new Florida residents and am looking forward to spending our points at VB now that we don't need to stay at Disney World to visit often. :cool1:

We are staying in the Inn with a Garden view. We can't wait! :)

This is why it's always better at VB to book a lock off if you want a two bedroom (yes, you can reserve a lock off, it's not a request). Doing this raises the likelihood of getting at least some view of the ocean. :smooth:
