We are thinking of heading to Vero Beach for 3 nights this summer. This will be our second time staying at Disney's Vero Beach resort. Last time we ended up in a room in the "Inn" but it wasn't ocean view, it was facing a parking lot or drive way, I think. I don't recall for sure what type of room I had booked, but I want to say I booked a studio. The room just didn't seem like a studio. We had two real beds, not a sofa bed. I see you can book an "Ocean View Inn Room". Would this category be rooms that actually face the ocean, or does this include all rooms in the Inn?

Another question I have is about dining. We tried it all last time, Sonya's, Shutters (for dinner and the character breakfast), The Green Cabin Room, and the pool bar. What we didn't do is venture off site for meals. I'd like to find a local seafood place that has good food and a nice atmosphere. We don't need fancy, just a nice location, preferably on the beach or with a good ocean view, and good seafood. Some place that is locally owned and has been around for a while would be something we would enjoy. We always have dinner at favorite local establishments on other beach vacations, and would love to find something similar in or near Vero. For reference, for those who are familiar with the Destin, Florida area, some place like the Back Patio, or AJ's Seafood is what we are hoping to find.

Another question about dining. Are there any recommendations for a nice local place for breakfast or brunch that is on the beach. We once had breakfast at a place in Clearwater Beach, Florida that was open air, on the beach, with the best breakfast menu, great orange juice, and a killer Bloody Mary bar. Anything like this in or near Vero?

I'm sure I'll have more questions once we book! Thanks in advanced!

You can book an Inn Room with an Ocean View, you will be on an upper floor with a direct view of the ocean. Not all rooms in the "Inn" face the ocean.

On the river are the Lobster Shanty which has early bird dinner specials and you get views of the river/boats/dolphins. Also, Captains Hiriams in Sebastion. The front desk can give you driving directions to both places.

Mulligans in the town of Vero is on the ocean and has outside seating and a fire pit for additional atmosphere. We have not tried the Ocesn Grill, but it has received good comments here.

If you faced the garden of parking lot, you booked a Garden View Inn Room. The studios at VB are in the out buildings, and have 1 queen bed and a double sized sofa bed. We tried a studio once, now we always book OVIR when one is available.

The Lobster Shanty in Vero Beach closed last year.

Inn rooms are either ocean or parking/garden views. While ocean views are nice, be prepared for lots of sun/heat.
Squid Lips is a very casual place with decent food and on the water.
Also, about 15 miles in Ft. Pierce is 12A Buoy. Not directly on the water, but enjoyable food. Building is old and nothing to write home about, other than the food.
Breakfast you can look up Cobalt, right on the ocean as the restaurant of the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa. Better than DVC choices. Most items are $10-14 for breakfast, but they also have a brunch, just check dates.

Good information! Would be great to hear from others who have found "don't miss" restaurants near Vero Beach.

We really enjoyed the Riverside Cafe. It over looks the Indian River. It's a little hard to find - doesn't look very good from the outside. But our meal was excellent. Seemed to be the hangout of a lot of locals.

What is/are primary differences between a Studio and Inn at Vero? Do Studios also come in "Ocean or Garden", or are all Studios Ocean facing? I was on the DVC site and saw the option for Inn Ocean View, but only a single option for Studios (with no description of Garden or Ocean).

All studios are Ocean View only the Inn Rooms has a choice of views.

The only guaranteed Ocean View are the Ocean View Inn rooms. These rooms directly face the ocean. Some studios have a limited ocean view, many do not. The Inn also has garden view rooms which face the parking lot and roadway.
Ocean View Inn rooms have 2 Queen beds, a table and 2 chairs and a kitchenette. They are more like regular hotel rooms with the addition of the kitchenette.
The studios have one bed and a pull out sofa bed like other studios. All studios are in the "out" buildings and all Inn rooms are in the main Inn.
Enjoy

Also the Inn has 2 queen beds while the studio has 1 queen bed and sleeper sofa.
