Vero Beach Points?

I am considering buying DVC through resale - and have noticed a few 50-point Vero Beach contracts out there that appear to be a good deal (per point) relative to contracts with on-property home resorts. I am in the beginning stages of DVC analysis and don't fully understand the system quite yet. What is the disadvantage to purchasing Vero points? They CAN be used at on-property resorts, right?

I am generally very flexible regarding resort location and not picky about going to Disney for particular weeks of the year. Is Vero an acceptable purchase in this case? (I thought a less-expensive, smaller Vero contract might be a more wallet-friendly way to introduce myself to DVC. But I will be using the points 99% of the time in Orlando, not Vero Beach.)

And also, if I decide at a later point to add-on points at SSR, AKV, or whatever other cool new DVC resorts Disney builds in the future, how do those points/booking windows count when I want to book a reservation? Suppose, for example, that I'd like to purchase 50 additional Contemporary Resort Villas points when Disney decides to build there in a few years (one can hope, right? :) ) - could I book a CR reservation at the 11-month booking window that uses all 100 points I own, or could I only book a 50-point reservation at that time?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

When considering price, also look at the maintenance fees. VB is $1.23 per point more than SSR. Over the lifetime of the contract, that will add up.

If you add-on at another resort, the 11 month window is only for that resort's points.

Yes, the annual fees will add up over the life of the contract, but for the next chunck of years you will still be on the plus side. Also, who knows what will happen to annual fees 10 years down the road?
That said, I wouldn't buy VB points to mostly use at WDW.

We own points at VB, but not for the purpose of using them at WDW. We have VB points in order to get a beach cottage at the 11 month window, or any other VB ressie. We visit VB twice a year, and want home resort advantage there. :)
