Vero Beach planning...

We arrive at VB on April 2nd and we have not received any letter about the pool being closed. So I hope for sure that whatever they are doing will be definitely finished.
Anyone else have some Vero Beach tips?

Going to bump this one up once more. :Pinkbounc

Thanks!

We're thinking of VB for a future spring break visit. We absolutely avoid WDW during SB because of the crowds and try to go in early January when it's quieter. I imagine VB is at full occupancy during SB and wondering how crowded it feels. Are activities all filled and pool a mob? Does it detract from the experience and would you choose a quieter time if you were one who didn't like mobs of people? Lastly, this may be laughable :rotfl2: but as a newbie I have to ask: Does VB book immediately at 11 month mark for SB-are there spots available at 7 months or even beyond?

My spring break always includes March 19th. We bought into DVC in September '03 and at that time I was able to get a garden view inn room for my spring break '04. We are empty nesters so, I don't know about children activities, but they had some off site excursions, I know we went to the Harborbranch Oceanographic Institute with a CM and it was a very interesting trip. There were terrible riptides our week and so there was no ocean swimming.

We liked VB enough to inquire about points while we were still on vacation, but our guide said there were none available, so we bought 150 at resale as soon as we got home!

We booked at the 7 month mark for 3/25 to 3/29 this year. We'll have a one bedroom. Didn't have any trouble getting our ressie. I'll let you know after we come back what our room was like, and how crowded it was.

Thanks for all the info on Vero. We are also planning a trip there this year. We will be there June 11 through the 18th.
It will be our first trip to Vero. How are the crowds in June?

Bringing this back up to thank everyone and to ask about any other info and advice about VB .

After having vacation plans change , not by choice, we decided to start our vacation with 3 nights in 2 OV Inn rooms and then up to BWV for 7 nights in a 2 bedroom .

Thanks again so far for the info !!

Thanks!

I thought the Slide was to be closed from 1/8 - 2/11. I am going 2/17 - 2/25.... if it is closed I will be MAJORLY BUMMED!!! Plus I haven't received any such letter.

As far as tips Relax, Relax and Relax. Get a massage, sit at the GCR and have a drink while sun sets, make sure you get up early and walk the beach while the sunrises (breathtaking), play min golf and shuffle board, buy chairs and umbrellas at Super Walmart, do the campfire, Unbirthday party for children is great (sign up ASAP at E&F's or your out), do a craft with Rita (she is great with the kids), get a refill mug the 1st day, eat at either Squid Lips or Capt Hirams (VB right of passage), one day get enough points to have a beach cottage (unbelievable), tour one while their to start dreaming, Turtle troop with Linda in the Summer is AWESOME (BTW Linda is my Personal Fav CM), if you have children do the kids camp at night and enjoy an adult dinner at Ocean Grille... I promise when you get back to pick the kids up they will be bummed out that they have to leave, buy or bring a small cooler to hold drinks sandwhichs etc at pool or ocean........ o did I say RELAX! ;)

If I think of more I willl post!

You do have to get to Ebb and Flos right when they open up to sign your kids up for the unbirthday party, at least during the week after Easter! There was a seperate line just for that sign up. I think I got down there about 10 minutes bfore opening and both my kids got in.
We will be there the week after Easter again this year and can't wait!

We will staying here for our first time in May. Can someone tell me more about the unbirthday party? Is there a cost? We are not owners so can my children attend? Is there an age limit? What exactly do they do at this party?

Tell me more too about the unbirthday party!!!

We are going Feb 26th, and I thought the slide would be done. No big deal DD is still too small...but I like the slide. I didn't get a letter, is the kid's splash area to be open by then?

We are getting prepared for our trip 2008 to VB in April and thought I would check some newer posts. So I thought I would bump this thread up and answer some questions that never got answered. But you still may wonder....

I asked my DD about the Unbirthday Party and she does remember that they played games, made a craft, and had cupcakes. You have to sign up that morning EARLY (like 8am) to order to get in. There is no cost but you can only do 1 Unbirthday party per visit. The age limit is 4-10 years old. If you are not a DVC member it is ok as long as you are staying at the resort. The parties were held on Mon, Wed, Fri at 2:00pm but that might have changed.
You can call them right before you leave and they can fax you a copy of the schedule for the week that you are there. Some things we loved were:
Campfires, Bead jewelry, Sandcastle building, Faux Gyotaku, and Craft time.

Anyone there is the past year that can tell us about some newer activites they do, that would be great!

..Faux Gyotaku..

So no parents at the unbirthday party??? DD is 4 and she would not be willing to go alone and have us leave her.

What is Faux Gyotaku?
