My family is wanting to do a family gathering in Jan 2023. Thinking about one or two nights at the beach, but I am not sure what the weather is like at that time. Is the water on the Atlantic side decent to where you do not have to buy wet suits or should we try to do something on the gulf side? What has some of your experiences at Vero in January been?

Thanks in advance

I love Vero in the winter. The weather can be chilly but we also get warm days quite often. The pool is definitely useable that time of year.

We just got back and the weather was great. Not sure about Jan but late Nov/early Dec was warm enough to get in the ocean.

Today, Dec 4…surf is 71° according to the sign at chair rental. At 2 PM not many in water here, but just a bit north there were.

We often come in January and often swim in the pool.

One interesting thing to do in January is to take a trip to Ft Pierce or another place for manatee viewing.

Are the noseeums less of a nuisance in the winter?

Are the noseeums less of a nuisance in the winter?

As someone who has been eaten by the Noseeums, they can be a problem anytime the temp goes above 70 degrees. In Florida they are around all the time, but may be less active on a cooler day.

At Vero, I get eaten at the beach, at the pool, across the road, on my porch, at the campfire, at dawn and at dusk. So pretty much all the time, everywhere.

Some people don't seem to get bothered by them.

At the pool, stay away from any greenery. Use spray.
These are annoying little bites and hurt and itch and last quite a while.

And if I'm there, you will see me in jeans and socks in an attempt to stop a few.

I was there in February, and it was nice enough to swim normally. YMMV, I'm a New Englander, so the beaches in Florida always seem warm to me.
