We just booked Vero for Feb. in a ocean view inn room. Could you please tell me what to expect from Vero as it will be our first time there? We are worried about the weather, and since it will be myself, dw, and 3 dd ( ages 8, 5, and 1 ), will we be able to keep them entertained?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

We went in early March a few years ago.

We love it no matter when we go. We stay in an ocean view inn room-2216 to be exact.

We never run out of things to do. We all LOVE the beach so we spend a lot of time there-usually rent an umbrella and a couple of chairs.

Our kids love the pirate ship. We all enjoy the pool slide. I can't tell you how many times we went down the slide on our last trip.

The mini golf is fun. They have bikes available for rent, movies in the store for rent. Crafts for the kids in the community hall. They have different activities on a daily basis-treasure hunts, fish hunts, painting t-shirts, the unbirthday party.

We have gone and done several activities and last time we went we didn't do any.

They have the campfire with s'mores a couple of nights a week.

We love the restaurants at VB and rarely venture outside the resort unless we go to Casey's Place for lunch or to Rita's Italian Ice. We plan on trying more local restaurants next time we go.

We find the quality of the food at VB to be excellent and they have wonderful children's meals that come with a different treat every day. DH enjoys the seafood buffet at Sonya's.

Sunday Brunch at Sonya's is a must. They also have the character breakfast with Goofy and Max.

Enjoy.

:D

I can tell you it is a wonderful resort. We just joined DVC in June and took our first trip home there in August. The pool is fantastic and there's this pirate ship water slide just for the very little ones. The 5 & 8 year olds will enjoy both that and the big pool depending on their heights. The main pool has a wonderful slide and periodically there are activities which are a lot of fun. There are also "for a fee" activities to sign up for like the unbirthday party which you have to sign up for very early on the day of the party. Ask at Eb & Flo's about that the day before so you know just how early. We didn't get in. There's also a small mini golf course that should amuse them. Our kids (10 & 7) really needed nothing more than the pools.

I understand there's a mall and a very large movie theater not too far away, but we spent all of our time swimming so we didn't venture out much.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It's a very pretty, laid back, beautiful resort.

Don't bother with the character breakfast though. It was not worth it here. I could go into more detail, but maybe if you have questions you'd like to send me a pm.

Hopefully someone can tell you about the weather, but as far as Vero in generally, this critic gives it two thumbs UP!

Can't sum it up any better than floridafam.:) There is plenty for the little ones to do. Just watch around the surf it can be quite rough during the winter months. Air temps can vary greatly this time of year. Water temps avg mid to upper 60s. Hope you enjoy your stay and the OV Inn Room view.:)

Relax and sit back........the kids(8 + 5 yr old) will keep themselves entertained. You will probably have to pry them from the pool and ocean when it is time to eat dinner.

The Indian River Mall and movie theater is about 15 minutes away. There is also a Bob Evans in front of the mall, and food court in the Mall. Here are a few links of VB and the activities........the 3rd link is for restraunts in VB.;)

Thank you everybody, in fact relaxing is what I do best. I have to tell you that I am really looking forward to this Vero trip, not so much that I am looking past BCV in Oct., but I can't wait to be hangin out at the ocean.

Thanks again,

The water temp in the ocean will probably be quite cold, and the air temp could also be cool and breezy, so bring jackets. However, the sun can be warm, and hopefully you will have some nice afternoons. I always like walking on the beach when it is cold. If it is too cold, I think the pool is always heated!

We have stayed at VB in February (middle). The weather was great while we were there. Warm enough to wear shorts and sit by the pool. We are not much for the swimming, so can't tell you how it would have felt after the swim -- but soaking up the sun was perfect.

However, the day we left a cold front came through and our stay which followed at BWV was rather chilly. Sunny, but chilly. In fact, CMs were running around moving all of the plants they could and we had the heat on in our room.

So, as with any time of the year, be prepared for anything. In fact, that is the trip when I purchased a scarf and gloves from one of the BW stores! And used them.

I agree with pattyoh, the average high for Feb. is 74. That's a bit cool for me to swim. But some people can swim when it is in the 60's. I guess that it's all in what you consider cold.

Here are the avg temps and precip for the last 3 years in Feb. They were recorded just a few miles south of the resort.
