Vero Beach home resort, but other stays

Any DVC members out there who have Vero Beach as their home resort but stay at other DVC or WDW resorts on occassion?

My boyfriend likes the idea of VB as our home resort (It's about 2 hours drive from home), we have been there 3 times in the past 2 years and want to make it a tradition to go at the beginning of Summer every year. But we also go to WDW for the Food & Wine Fes, and I and girlfriends go to the Flower Fes every year.

I was just wondering if any VB-ers have had luck or not-so-much luck in reserving at a DVC resort in WDW or a non-DVC WDW resort?

We generally try to avoid the weekend crowds.

During those two events at 7 months out you are looking at staying at SSR, OKW, or AKL on almost every stay.
If you are satisfied with those resorts for those events, then you can most likely be satisfied.
If you are wanting one of the near park resorts, IMHO you need to rethink your HR.
One thing about VB, it has the highest MFs of any of the DVC resorts. You will wind up paying more in MFs than the initial outlay for purchasing over the course of ownership.

But if you want to spend a week or so at VB at the beginning of summer, you probably need to own there.

We own at VWL and Vero. We have owned VWL since 2001 and have not had any issues booking at the 7th month window anywhere. We have only waitlisted once for BLT - but we got what we wanted. Now with that said we also have not tried to go for F&W.... yet. Just be vigilant and call or check online (or both to see which goes faster) the very second your 7 month window opens. You may also need to be open to what ever is available - but I really think you won't have too much of a problem.

We've tried two 7 month waitlists for Epcot resorts during Food and Wine, one year nothing came through and we stayed at the Swan,the other year we were able to get a 1 BR at BW, but we really wanted a studio. But I agree with the original poster, if you want an Epcot resort at F&W time, you should own there.
