Vero Beach& Cellphones

This past week (Sun-Wed) my family and I were at Vero Beach. The resort is beautiful but nobody had a cell phone that worked right. Nobody had service in the rooms or to the beach side of the main building. Away from the building was hit or miss with service. In the main building anyone trying to use a phone had to hang over the railing in the center. It was funny with people hanging over railings saying "can you hear me now?" It looked like one big ad for cell service. At the pool most phones seemed to work. even Tink needed pixie dust to get a phone to work

So true... But you have to keep in mind that there are no cell towers out in the ocean... so you have to be on the west side of the resort to get any connection. Learned my lesson on this one.

I've never had any issues with mine. Worked in the rooms, on the balconies,beach, pool, no problems whatsoever.

There seems to be a "Bermuda Triangle" of cell phone service around the resort and into Sebastian on US1.

I have had so many problems with my OnStar in our vehicle. I will be talking on the phone and the call will just get dropped as I drive by the resort or on certain sections of US1.

We have cingular and we did not have any trouble with ours where ever we were at the resort. We stayed in the Inn and it worked fine while ther and at the pool and beach.

I have Verizon and when I stayed there last year I got the best reception up in the laundry room at the top of the main building. I did all my calling while I did laundry!

Hey I've done that laudry/phone home thing myself!! One day while chating on the balcony of the laundry room that I could look right into someones room We couldn't get signal from our OVIR.

Anybody ever noticed that that painted glass door in the laundry room actually lets you out onto a balcony? Perfect place for cell phone and for seeing the sunset!

Yeah, when we were there last May we were in a 1bed and I had to stand next to the fridge of all things?! Of course that didn't help my diet as I nibbled while talking!!!

Mine never works when I am in my inn room. I have to be outside to use it. I usually just get a calling card to call my mom and husband to tell them the resort number and room number so they can call me, if needed. My service is with Alltel.

Hope this doe not mean we have to listen to a bunch of people screaming into cell phones all the time. Drives me nuts Lady next door to me at HH would stand on her balcony and scream ioto the phone constantly. Finally figured out if I made enough noise she would get annoyed and go inside.Tou would be suprised how loud I can sing the Adams Family song.

We have Cingular and had no trouble using our phone in our room, our balcony, or the pool. We had an OVIR so were facing the ocean. My husband did drop a call in the elevator - but then again - duh, what was he thinking!

ours was on t-mobile and worked fine by the band stand area of the pool but not on the beach at all. did not work on the coast side of hotel but worked anywhere after exiting the main entrance!
