I just found out that I have 40,000 in Verizon Wireless Rewards, but I haven't a clue on how to use them. How has everyone else used them? I do have a car rental planned and thought maybe I could apply a bunch to that, but is there a limit to how many I can use?

How would you use them to enhance your Disney vaca?

I also just saw I had Verizon wireless reward points. They sent me an email. I clicked the link thru that email and registered. Then went to gift card deals. They have 10% off for Wolfgang Puck, Landrys and even Yak n Yeti. I bought a couple gift cards just now. 10% saved is better than nothing! :-)

How do you get these points? I have had Verizonwireless for several years and never heard of these points.

Thanks for this question! I didn't even know about the Rewards points, and after I registered I had 50,400!

For your question, I would look at gift cards for off site dining and for the car rental.

It didn't work out for me because I need a guaranteed bed type (Double Queen, I can't accept a King) but there are some great deals if that doesn't matter to you.

I was looking yesterday too and I saw a $50 hotel card for I assume many hotels (I did'nt want to register at the site to see which hotels) for just points no cash. I thought wow...I can score big and pay for a Disney trip if Disney hotels are included and then I read the fine print and it said can only be use one per reservation.

Can you buy Disney gift cards at Staples or CVS? I've never looked in those stores for them.

I was looking at the local deals section. You can change the location to anywhere you want. Coupons from the local entertainment book come up. Might be some coupons for restaurants or other activities.

I got an email for this as well, but when I researched the program, it's not good. In return for signing up and earning points, Verizon is quite intrusive and allows the bots to track members’ locations, web browsing history, and app usage when you sign up. The privacy policy states they can do a lot more marketing (ie telemarketing, emails, snail mail, and selling your number) based on it. You can "opt out" of some of the marketing, but I doubt it's easy. I chose not to join based on all of this, as I didn't feel it was worth it. This may be different for others, but wanted to point out the negatives so people understood what they were agreeing to.

They log all your calls and sell all your data to pay for the points (not like they don't already do that anyway though).

Did a search to see if this had been discussed before I posted a question, and found this thread.:thumbsup2

I was so excited to see I had thousands of points, only to find the 'deals' not really that great.

Or am I missing something?

Any recent thoughts out there? TIA.

The short version is that it is a severe intrusion on privacy and as you have seen on this thread, not worth it. I opted out yesterday as a new Verizon customer....long version follows:

Just became a "happy" Verizon wireless customer over Christmas (over my objections, family was tired of dumb prepaid phones).

As part of the raft of paperwork there was a small bit about privacy opt-out that I could do online or over the phone.

Went online where they made it a bit difficult to jump through the hoops (I imagine on the phone they give you a hard sell not to opt-out).

Opted out of lots of stuff, then hit the bottom where almost as an afterthought thing they had a small link to one more thing....

That one more thing was my Verizon rewards....I had no idea I had Verizon rewards, no idea what it was.

I spent some time looking it over seeing just HOW MUCH it pushed it's way into my privacy. After looking it all over completely, I hit the button that said I wanted to disenroll.

Got a pop-up that said "Did I really?"

I would be missing out on such wonderful stuff....you know when they really push like that, they must be making some serious $$ on your information.

I finally swore on my sister's cat's grandmother's grave that I wanted to opt out, but I will admit with the way they pushed it, I had a fleeting moment of doubt.

Do what you think best, of course, but I would never knowingly allow such information about me to be sold.

As for tracking you, a fair amount of that IS required by law (at least that's what the Verizon boilerplate told me yesterday). Push it as public safety, which I think the politicos want you to believe is "like finding you when lost in woods," but I think is more about finding you if you are a threat to security -- which I understand -- as long as that is all they use it for....

Yup, which is why my points will sit there, continue to accrue and never be used. :thumbsup2

I used 1K points to get a BOGO at a restaurant we frequent. But it expires in 2 weeks, so I have to remember to get it RIGHT before we go.

I tried to get an auction item, but that is a joke because it doesn't REALLY end when it says it ends like ebay. As long as there is a bid every 10 seconds it keeps going--REALLY??

They do have a daily deal that can be a good deal if you can get on at 1PM CST daily. It can be good...or not. But it is always 1K points & just a flat out buy.

Well I found a coupon for the Rainforest Cafe, one I have been looking for everywhere and could'nt find it. Got excited and hit the ready to print button and then realized it expired in two freakin weeks! So mad.:mad: I lost it. Lost the 500 points. Should have read more slowly! Doubt they will offer me another one.

Thank you all. I had enrolled only to discover what a joke the program is. Didn't pay attention to the fine print so am grateful for the heads up. Just opted out.

I also appreciate all the info and want to opt-out.

However, I have been ALL over the site and cannot find where the link is to opt-out? Of course it's likely not easy to find :sad2: or maybe its just been a long long week :confused3

Can someone please tell me where to find it? TIA.

A local restaurant is on there. Every time we go in we "buy" the same coupon. So you should be able to get it again. (I don't care what they do with my information. I appreciate discounts anywhere I can get them.)

Rather than to continue to allow them to make $$$ selling information to whomever -- why not opt out.

Thank you! I was having the hardest time finding out where to withdraw consent.

I liked the concept, and am typically willing to participate in these types of things, but the way this program is structured drove me nuts. I have 78,500 points, but can only use 1000 towards 10% off of something? I swear, half the "deals" I could buy are also freely available coupon codes on the internet. If i could use 1000 to get 10% off, or use 10,000 to get 100% off that would have been better, but the ability to get 10% off on a gift card just wasn't worth it to me.
