Verizon vs. Optimum

Hi Everyone! I'm hoping we can get some insight as to whether or not not we should switch from Optimum's triple Play (TV, Phone and Internet service) which we have no complaints about...until now..our bill just went up $40.00. We didn't change anything, but our triple play trial is up. So we either pay it or switch to verizon fios. Does anyone have opinions or comments about either service? I personally like Optimum, just not the price tag! I've heard Verizon internet service goes out, but I don't know if that's really true or not. T.I.A.

Have had 0 issues with my FIOS in the last year. Internet was down possibly twice in that time. I'm very anti cable and phone company and given the choice i'm sticking with Verizon.

I switched from Optimum to FiOS this past spring and I couldn't be happier. I can't speak for the phone service since I did not have it through Optimum but we did have trouble with our internet and cable from time to time and I haven't had one since our switch to FiOS. I do have to say that my neighbor did have some issues getting her phone (Optimum) switched, they wanted to keep their number and Verizon was supposed to contact Optimum and never did so it took a couple weeks to get it straightened out. I honestly don't know the details.

We just switched to Fios and we're very happy. Faster internet, better picture quality, and my husband LOVES all of the sports channels.

Just wanna let you know that as soon as we switched Optimum offered us a very good deal. Free premium channels and DVR for a year $69.99 for the triple play plus the boxes and they would buy out my existing Fios contract. My husband said NO WAY. He enjoys ESPN University too much and it's only availabe on Fios.

We are making the switch from Comcrap to fios on Monday (for the same reason). Hope it is the right decision. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice! My dh wants to switch, but I don't want to change my email (I feel like it's a phone number, everyone already has it, pain to make up new one, etc). I guess we'll be changing if Optimum won't bugdge on the price.

We have had FIOS for over 2 years, and have been happy. I hated the poor customer service I had with Optimum! We have no regrets wtih switching. The internet, phone and cable has been great. Lots of HD channels!
