I have Verizon pre-pay and all those little fees and taxes are pretty much included in your payment. They are not itemized like on a regular plan however you are definitly paying them.
Verizon offers a few different pre-pay plans, there is one that does not require a daily usage fee (which is the one I do) but without that you will pay the highest minute/text rate. If you choose one with a daily usage fee, you will pay less, or have unlimited text to other verizon customer, etc. When I add $15 to my phone (automatically with my bank card), I do pay sales tax ($1.20). I don't know if you pay that when you use a pre-paid refill card.
They also have a text plan add-ons, which I will be doing for myself and my dd. There is one that is $20/month for unlimted text to anyone on any network (this is in addition to your monthy payment to keep your acct active). There is also a $10/ mo add on for unlimted texts to others with Verizon, and 250 texts for those on other networks. This is what I am planning on doing once I get dd's phone and put her on Verizon it should arrive today

I will pay $100 upfront for an entire years worth of minutes (its only 650 minutes) and I will pay $10 a month for the texting add-on. This works for me because I don't use my phone often and have been texting more and more lately. I could continue to pay $15 a month with the texting add-on but only $5 worth of talk minutes will be added to my phone. The talk minutes will roll over each month, but the text allowance will not. This is what I will do for dd because she rarely talks on her phone.
