Does anybody have this. How does this compare to comcast. I have problems with comcast. Will I be ok with Netflix with it.

If you mean FIOS, then, IMO, it kicks the butt of Comcast, and I used to have Comcast. Comcast used to drop signal on me a couple times a week. So far, in my 3rd year of FIOS, not a single drop. Picture quality is at least eqaul to Comcast, IMO.

ETA: We use Netflix with no issues about 95% of the time. Sometimes during primetime it may stutter a tiny bit.

No unfortunately we don't have duos here. So their high speed Internet which I believe is dsl. Wed go with the highest speed one.

I have the 3Mbps Verizon DSL. In reality, due to my distance from a office, I seem to get at max 2Mbps. I believe 3Mbps is the max you can get with a residential line, but it's not likely you will actually GET that speed.

Netflix says it prefers at least 5Mbps, but we've been watching things instantly for several years with our DSL, and have relatively little problems. Note we do NOT get High Def at that speed.

I can't compare to Comcast because I've never had Comcast and it's not available in my area. I do know that coaxial based Internet access (cable modem) has problems with bandwidth because you are sharing bandwidth with your own TV as well as your neighbors. This isn't true with DSL.

Personally, I would love to have FiOS.

We had comcast for many years (I know how horrible their customer service can be) and then moved where there was no cable available. So we had to get verizon for our internet. There is a big difference in going from comcast internet and verizon internet. Verizon is slow! We had netflix and we were ok for the most part. The biggest problem was we would be in the middle of a movie or show on netflix and all the sudden our internet would go out so the movie had to reboot. This would happen several times a week. Our internet was noticably slower too. When I called to question how slow my internet was, verizon had me do a speed test and then told me that because my speed was at 50% of their advertised speed that I was paying for my internet was good enough. We dealt with verizon for 4 years and finally the local cable company brought cable down our lane. I have cable again and am so glad to be rid of verizon.

Actually, I've been considering switching to a local cable company to get a speed higher than the 2Mbps I am getting from Verizon DSL. I've decided to stick it out and hope FiOS comes to my area soon.

It's very frustrating when you see how much faster Internet speeds are in other countries compared to the US. :headache:
