Verizon Dsl $14.95-

I downgraded yesterday and have had no signs of a slowdow with my speed. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback......I just saved almost $20/month (inclusive of taxes).

Merry Christmas to all!!!

Helene

That's great! I am very happy with my downgrade- too. Now what to do with the extra $$$????

Here's what I use to check my internet connection speed:
http://reviews.cnet.com/7004-7254_7-0.html
It gives you an idea of where your speed is compared to where it "should" be! Regarding Cable, it's on a "network" of sorts. The number of people in your area that are on your network affect your speed. So more people, slower cable!! :) Our speed was 1717.9 kbps just to give you an idea, but we live in an area that's not highly populated (the burbs). Good Luck

go to DW....of course.....

What phone number did you guys call for this? I can't get through to a real person.

I wanted to downgrade. Did you do that online? I see you are from Frederick, MD. My sister went to Hood College.

Thank You! I just changed yesterday. They said that if my rate change was effective yesterday and that it would take 24 - 48 hours for the speed to change IF there will be one. This cut my DSL bill in half! Hopefully there is not much speed change.

If Verizon is your phone carrier just dial 0 - then follow the voice mail prompts to get to the Verizon Business office -residential- that is how I did it. Or you could call 410-954-6260- but that may be long distance.

BTW - this Verizon service is NOT available in all areas - :confused3

No kidding! DH and I had the $29.95 Verizon DSL plan. We moved 1 mile away on 11/30 and they have not yet been able to set up the DSL service in our new home. We were quoted service-ready dates of 12/18, then 1/4, and lately 1/30. Apparently in high-traffic areas they need to add "switches," so even though we had a switch when we were at our old home, we couldn't use that switch for our new home. Good grief. We're going to Comcast (our contract is up February 1st, so it's kind of pointless now.) Plus, we had to spend 2 hours on the phone with customer service just to get credit for the time we haven't been able to use the service. Not good to be stuck on dial-up when you work from home (grrr . . . )

I changed a week or so ago. Not one bit difference noticed so far by me or the kiddies. By the way my verizon contract was not up yet but since I was changing to another verizon product it was A Ok. I saved 50% on what I was paying that is "Wicked Awesome Dude" as my DS (9) would say!!!!

just bumping this up, I have to call tomorrow from work.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the price go up after a year? I'm not clear on that...thought maybe it goes to either 29.99 or 39.99 I want to know what it'll be next year before I sign up. Anyone know for sure???

The $14.95 price is guaranteed for a year- the cost may go up after a year- or maybe it won't. I don't think it would go above $29.99 since that is the regualr price (no promo/special, you just need the freedom package) for the higher speed dsl. I was on that plan for 2 years before I switched.
BTW- if you order online- you get the first month free (this is probably for new customers only)
