We have verizon cell phones and plan to use them to keep in touch at the parks.

Anyone have experience with verison at WDW?

Was the reception OK?

We also have walkie talkies and I am trying to decide whether to pack them

I used my Verizon cell in this past Oct without a problem. Stayed at OKW as well, no problems anywhere. You will like the cell better since the walkies have such a short range and poor reception. Have a great trip.

Thanks for the quick response. This is our first trip with 2 cell phones so i am excited to be able to use them!

We have Verizon also and have never had a problem. Forget the walkie talkies, alot of families have them down there and they all seem to be on the same channel!

We used our Verizon phones in December and had no problem anywhere in the world. We had better coverage than my brother with Cingular did.

We also had Verizon and never had service problems. As someone else stated, forget 2 way radios - way too many people using the same channels.

Another vote for the phones. My Verizon service has worked great at all the parks!

Thanks for the info on Verizon. It is our cell phone company and we will use our phones at WDW this coming May. We do like our walkie-talkies with all of the privacy codes for during the day at one park. We can split up and do different attractions and shop and still keep in touch without roaming charges or use of too many minutes. We consider them a must with our varied interests.

We've used our Verizon phones on a couple of trips now - it seems like the only time we had some trouble was inside our resort room. I think inside the Contemporary was the worst - if you stood by the patio door, you were able to get much better reception. I don't recall having any problems at POP though. Always worked in all of the parks. HTH! :D

The only time we've had problems with our Verizon phones is actually at the hotels. For some reason it was hit or miss with a signal. In the parks, they were fine though.

I have Verizon too and have never had a problem. Remember you have unlimited minutes (or a very large number) if you are calling another Verizon member. Check your plan.

We were at the airport right after Hurricane Charlie trying to sort out a rental car at the Budget Counter in the garage and could not get a signal on our Cingular phone. The woman working the Budget kiosk there loaned me her Verizon phone and I had no problem getting a signal with hers. Thanks Budget lady.
