Anyone tried these yet ? How do they compare to the 3G ? Worth spending $200.00 ?

Denise,
I was wondering about this also. Curious if there is a noticeable difference between 3G and 4G. I have an older Sprint card and it was real slow in FL which kinda surprised me. Thinking about doin' an upgrade but still researching it.

I'm considering getting a card for my computer or paying to tether my phone for a month. Interested to see responses from anyone that has done this at FtW. I have Verizon too.

I have used Sprint cards and mifi on 3G and 4G. I didn't notice a lot of difference. Sprint's 4G is a different technology (a little slower) than the 4G Verizon uses. I read a review of Sprint's 4G and they refered to it as 3 1/2 G. It was better than using my phone for internet because of the screen size but I don't know if it was any faster. I haven't used Verizon's 4G yet to see if it's noticable.

I did just look at coverage maps. Sprints 4G service doesn't extend to the Fort yet and the 3G looks a little spotty in places. That may be why you had trouble. Verizon's map looks like complete 4G coverage for all of WDW.

I faced the same problem and wound up getting a "smart phone" with a mobile hot spot. It costs me an additional $20/month, but in addition to be able to connect my lap top mostly anywhere, I have internet access via the phone. Its a Verizon palm pixie

My friend has one. She loves the convenience of it, but it takes "forever" to upload a page. Of course it could just be her computer :confused3.

The palm pixi has 3g service and I have not noticed any speed difference in using its hot spot for internet vs at home

Hope this helps

I just tried one of the Verizon wireless hot spot devices, and it was a nightmare. Apparently they have issues with them if you are in an area that has a lot of wireless activity. If you can see more than 4 wireless Internets available on your computer, the device gets confused and cannot read the Verizon card. This is a known issue at verizon, but they will not tell you about it until after you have purchased the device and have issues with it. I took mine back and went with a 3g/4g usb device from Verizon that works really well. It will automatically switch between 3g and 4g when you enter an area that has 4g available and vice versa. I have been using it while dry camping deep in the woods in NC and have had no problems with speed or connection.

Welcome Ed,
thanks for the advice on the hot spot. I have the 3G USB card, I think when I get a chance I will try the 4G.

Were you able to get good conectivity with your palm at fort wilderness.

Got the new 4G today. :woohoo:
Got the USB modem free, free activation, the service is $10.00 a month cheaper and for some reason they gave me the 19 percent work discount. :thumbsup2

Much faster, definitely worth it.
