Verifying that online check-in worked?

Hi there,

Does anyone know if there is a way to verify that online check-in worked :confused3? I believe that I tried to do this when I linked my APs and villa reservations about a month ago, but I also know that mydisneyexperience had been and still is *extremely* buggy since I tried using it at 60 days out.

So, I called MS and they told me to try it again and it would tell me that I was already checked in. But it didn't tell me that, so I went through the process of doing it again, and on the last screen, it gave me the "sorry, try again" message (again! :()

Does it matter at this point? I am not sure what online check-in gets me, except a bit frustrated :rolleyes2.

That is why, heretofore, I have not done it, and don't plan to.

I used it at least twice before, before the invention of mydisneyexperience. It didn't save me any time then, but I thought, why not? But I agree that it has never helped. As long as I have a reservation, we should be good to go!

You enter your estimated arrival and departure times, select your purchasing PIN and enter your CC for room charging. When you arrive at the resort, you go to the on-line check-in desk where your welcome packet is waiting. We stayed at SSR recently and I had completed on-line check-in. Went in to the lobby, the CM handed me our welcome packet and we were out the door and headed to our room in just a couple of minutes.

Sounds like it worked well for you :thumbsup2! For me, it's told me at least three times "sorry, try again" with Goofy there, looking innocently at me :rolleyes1.

When we used the online check-in for BCV at least twice, it took 15 minutes to check in anyhow. Maybe it has improved there? But if the online system won't let me check-in early, then it won't matter anyhow. Once we are there, we aren't in a hurry. We can watch the yummy Gingerbread Merry-Go-Round go around and around in the lobby :yay:.

I kept getting the "Sorry, Try Again" message prior to my last trip. When I got to the Resort, they scanned my MagicBand, and all the info was in their system...so the check-in did indeed go through.

We tried using it for our Oct trip and every time I tried it, I got Goofy telling me that it hadn't gone through. Well, when I arrived at YC Concierge Level, the CMs said it had gone through and gave me my MBs. They worked fine to open the door, but when I tried to purchase something from Epcot Food and Wine, the PIN I'd entered when trying to check in did not work and I had to pay with a credit card I fortunately had on me. I then had to go back to the CMs at the YC to set up a PIN again.

I now have the option for my January trip to do on-line check in again, and I'm really leery after last trip. Since AK CMs were terrific in 2011, I might not risk it, however for BLT in February we might since in December 2011 it took 30-40 minutes to check in! o_O;

Well, that's sort of encouraging, then. I get a lot of those "sorry" messages, so maybe I am checked in at least four times ::yes::?! I'll find out in a few days!

FWIW that can happen without online checkin. For some reason their systems are having a really hard time remembering things from one moment to the next.

We've never had a really fast checkin experience (either online checkin or not doing it), but what we HAVE experienced is receiving absolutely rotten rooms when we haven't done it AND we arrived late. We ended up with the room no one else wanted. When we've done online checkin and arrived late we still got exactly what we wanted.

It's such an obvious difference for us (and we have very split stays so there are lots of checkins in our past, LOL) I definitely won't leave a late arrival to normal checkin.

You should of gotten an e-mail confirmation, if it worked. I always print mine out and have it with me to confirm that I did it.
I find that we get our requests more often with online check-in vs the previous method.
