How is asking about buying a child's DDP (which OP would mean buying a child's ticket - they have to be bought as a package) for a 10 year old who is supposed to have an adult DDP and ticet not cheating the system?

OP ASKED rather than DID, that is how...you have a question, you ask...I guess OP could have tried to be deceiving and just booked it that way...It does not sound like the OP had intentions of buying the DDP at the 9 year old price and ordering from the adult menu...and I am sure the ticket did not really enter his/her head when thinking of dining (see his/her last post)! Really!!! People have the right to ask questions and not have other people jump down their throat! Give it up! :confused3

Again OP, I still extend my offer of asking further questions via PM so you do not have this non-sense...I will not think ill of you if the question contains something that is against Disney policy, I will simply explain this and try to help you resolve the issue in the best manner for your family's situation.

It sounds to me as though this is your answer:

Regsister her on the DDP as being 10. Pay out of pocket for whatever you feel she'll eat: an appetizer as dinner, a child's meal; whatever.

Then you'll have some extra TS credits. Use them at 2 TS credit restaurants--Cinderella's Castle, the Brown Derby or whatever.

You're not paying for food she's not eating, and you're not cheating.

Not sure what you are trying to say...what I was trying to say is to the OP, not intended for anyone to "flame" me or the OP...each to his/her own...everyone has a right to an opinion and mine is that some people try to make a mountain out of a mole hill on these boards...let people ask questions without being belittled or "flamed"...especially when the record is set straight when they are wrong or trying to get around the system! Have a magical day!

I'm confused by your response to the poster. The poster you quoted was trying to give an answer and gave a constructive one. I don't see how it has anything to do with your posts. You just said everyone has a right to an opinion and then you jump on everyone that is offering answers. Their response didn't belittle anyone and offered useful information.

I am sorry, I read this posting wrong...I have only had 2 hours sleep because we had some terrible storms come through here last night...my apologies to all involved  ...I thought because aliceacc quoted my posting the last line (that I have highlight) was aimed toward me...that's what a lack of sleep will do for you...make you delirious :rotfl: ...again, please accept my apologies :flower3:

As the OP of this thread I think it's time to put an end to it. I have actually lost interest in my question now. DDH thinks the DDP is ridiculous and restrictive so we'll be eating on our own once again anyway. Thanks to mckycrzy1971 :worship: for being supportive and NOT judgemental. And to everyone who didn't like the post to begin with, I hope that the next time you're in the grocery store and you see that the cashier doesn't ring up a bag of chips, that you run back in to customer service and pay them!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 That's stealing ya no.

No apology needed.

And, for what it's worth, it wasn't meant as a dig at anyone. I had read the original post and a few of the responses, then added my 2 cents without reading the rest of the responses. If I quoted your post it was pure coincidence.

I teach high school and I have 3 kids... there's enough drama in my life without me inciting any here.:scared1:

(Also, I LOVE thunderstorms but can only imagine how severe they must have been to keep you up. Hope tonight is better!)

I'm with the original poster. If I pay FULL ADULT PRICE in advance on the meal plan for my kid to eat, I don't see why he/she can't have the cheaper kid choices. How is that cheating Disney?

I'm at Disney right now with two 10-yr olds & one 9 yr-old that all have similar appetites. They are all on the appropriate meal plans....wouldn't consider cheating. But it has been very frustrating when all 3 want a bowl of mac n' cheese or a burger and 2 are refused. Instead they have to order an adult meal that basically goes untouched. Then an hour later they're hungry & want to stop for something else to eat.

#1 I shouldn't have to pay for kids' meals or additional meals when I've already paid lots of $$$$ to feed everyone.
#2 We don't have enough time to eat all of their TS meals if we buy them kids' meals OOP.

My suggestions would be to .......

Skip the meal plan if you have tweens that might/might not want the adult options. Or only eat TS meals at buffets where the kids are allowed to eat the adult AND kid foods. Our kids loved Crystal Palace & Boma on this trip.

The meal plan needs some work in this area.

Do you mean that they will not allow your children (10 year olds) to order off of the children's menu even though you would be using an adult credit? If that is the case, they have really cracked down since we were there in May...that is purely senseless! Disney would actually be gaining a LOT if they allowed that...crazy on their part if you ask me! :confused3

Thank you so much for your gracious forgiveness Aliceacc...I really need to make sure I am reading post correctly before responding.

Yeah, the storms were pretty intense here last night...the weather center said it was straight line winds with gusts up to 85 miles per hour in some areas around us...the not sleeping part comes in because my husband works for the local power company and he was out until 4am...when he is not here it is hard for me to sleep (especially during storms...I feel like I have to be extra alert)...I finally fell asleep around 4:30am just to hear my alarm blaring at 6:30am...it felt like I had just shut my eyes! I run an in-home daycare...I may have to sneak in a nap while my kids are down this afternoon :rolleyes1

No thanks needed...I try to stand up for people when I see it worthy...I did not see anything wrong with asking a question when you honestly did not know the answer...we all do that! Once it was discussed that it was against policy, I thought it was water under the bridge...that is until the flames came out :lmao:

Have fun!!!

That's a lot of wind. We got all the snow in our area. Lots and lots of it.

I don't see where it was implied that they couldn't. I don't think that scenario would be a problem.

mckycrzy1972 did a wonderful job explaining the rules:thumbsup2 . simply, the DDP is definately not for everyone. perhaps one day you will find it a good value (or not;) ) ~ enjoy your vacation whatever the decision!

(btw, in answer to your "chips" scenerio: yes, i have gone back in to pay for an overlooked item, as have DH & both my children ~ if i didn't pay for it, it's not mine, plain & simple:confused3 so i absolutely agree with you, it would be "stealing" otherwise :) )

I promise you, it WAS/IS a problem!!! And it wasn't implied, it was told directly to me.

At the Whispering Canyon Cafe we had dinner with 3 kids & only the 9 year old was allowed to order a hamburger from the kids' menu. We specifically asked and were told that the two 10 year old kids weren't allowed to order from that menu. :confused3

And the joke was really on us. The next day at the Roaring Forks (CS in the Wilderness Lodge) the 10 yr olds could have a burger, but the 9 yr old couldn't. She was stuck with PB&J. :rotfl2:

Like I said, the only way to satisfy all 3 kids has been to stick with the buffets. We loved 1900 Park Fare tonight.

Your concern is appreciated. While I had not responded in this thread earlier - that in itself being a shock ;) - I do have to comment on this criticism.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I DO go back into the store if I find something in my cart for which I didn't pay. Last time it was a frozen entree that had slipped down in the space next to the carriage seat, and nobody noticed it. I brought it back in and paid.
If I get home and realize I didn't pay for something, next time I go to that store I bring it back to Customer Service (or the cashier, in a small store) and explain what happened - and pay.
Not all that long ago, I was loading my car at the supermarket and noticed a bottle of bleach on the base of a light post. I brought THAT back into the store.

No, I'm not perfect - far from it - but given the specific challenge provided, I can state with a clear heart that I do NOT steal, even accidentally.

I fully agree. If I find something that I din't pay for I go back and pay .

I once had to go into a pizza shop three times to get my change straightened out. First two times, I didn't get enough change. The third time, they had 'overchanged' me - so I had to bring the money back.

So then am I right to assume that on the DDP sometimes they will let 10 year olds order of the child's menu and sometimes they won't?
