Vera B bag users - what about rain, Splash man, etc?

So I'm still browsing for a new park bag. I know the Vera Bradley bags are very popular, but if you have one of the standard cotton bags that is not water resistant, what do you do in the rain, or on a ride like Splash Mtn?

Oh rats, typo in the header. Maybe I'll fix it later.

I brought a garbage bag to put it in on the rides. We never had rain but I guess I would put it under the poncho- love the cross-body!

I figured I'd probably just need to bring a big ziplock for it. (I'm looking at a smaller crossbody). Going in February next year; I've had very little rain on my past Feb trips, and Splash is usally closed anyway.

I missed out on a cheap Le Sportsac I had my eye on on Amazon, so I'm back to the drawing board.

Have you tried spraying with Scotchgard? It won't make it waterproof but does help with repelling some water.

I have two, and mine have weathered summer afternoon rainstorms without ponchos, Splash Mtn. (in both Disney World and Disneyland), and Kali and lived to tell the tale. For the Jurassic Park ride at Universal I did make my oldest stuff it under his poncho (he doesn't like getting wet). It gets wet but dries pretty quickly. I make sure I have ziplocs in there for phones, but otherwise I don't worry about it too much.

Also I should add that I use them in my regular life and obviously don't use a poncho in the real world and nothing has happened to them.

Well, I did it! I bought a VB "little crossbody" bag in the Pop Art pattern (which I love) to use as my new park bag in February. I'm going to leave it as-is and see how it works out (although I will take a big ziplock it can go into if necessary). $28 at Dillards, I figure I can't go wrong. :thumbsup2

I love the small VB bags for the parks - limits me to only the bare essentials! (Which is a good thing)

this. I keep some ziplocs in there in case of rain, etc and I'm worried about my phone. anything else can get damp!

I second the spraying it with "camp out" suggestion. It rained a lot while we were there and wearing it crossbody under my poncho might not have been enough to keep it dry.

IDK I use my VB hipster crossbody in every day life and at WDW.
I have never sprayed my bag with anything.
While you don't really want it to get soaked at the parks it is perfectly safe for them to get wet.
I've washed some of mine several times and hang them to dry.
In every day life when it rains they do get damp.
At WDW when it rains I generally toss my poncho on and wear my VB under it and it doens't get wet.
One time it was not raining too hard so I didn't put my poncho on and the bag did get damp so when iI got back to the resort I emptied it and hung it until morning.
It was dry by morning and I tossed my items back in.
