Venting - -The NEW entertainment???

It used to be that you could go back to the resorts for some peace and quiet, but not anymore. We were at POFQ last year sitting on a park bench watching the river go by while the maid cleaned the room and then started the loud music. Went back to the room and same thing...loud yelling on a microphone and bassy music. Yes, I had caught a bad head cold the last day of our trip and there was no where to go to get away from the noise!
Because of it I could barely keep my eyes open for MVMCP.

I understand that parents want the kids to be entertained when away from the parks, but do the pools have to have a loud dance party?

A ha, a new theme for a resort...A quiet resort!

I could do without the pool parties and the food court entertainment. The parks are where you get all of the loud and crazy stuff...I'd prefer the resorts be calming and peaceful. :goodvibes

We haven't been to a food court in a while but I totally agree about the pool parties. We were at the Boardwalk on one trip and even though we were on the opposite side of the pool from the CMs, we couldn't hear each other speak. Personal music was out of the question because it was so loud. We ended up moving over to the community center pool and could still hear the noise. That's absurd!!

But I do think it was scaled back a bit. On our last trip, it seems the games were spread out a bit so it would get loud for a little while and than stop for a while. Maybe one every hour or so? I don't know why swimming at Disney is not enough and that there was a need for additional and constant entertainment at the pool too. I am thankful it was toned down.

I do agree with OP about the "pool party" noise level and length. We spent 12 nights at CR recently, and every afternoon was a blaring barrage of music and forced perkiness. The official "Pool Party" is just listed as 3-4 pm and that would be fine. But all of the activities leading up to the party and following it involved screaming over microphones and blaring music. Bingo, Disney Trivia, What WDW Attraction is This?, What's in Your Beach Bag, Limbo, etc. And most days had 2-4 kids tops involved. Why the screaming over the microphone? Not necessary.:confused3 Basically, the pool party goes from 1pm-6 or 7pm. :beach:

I got used to it and tuned it out after about day 3, but I can see how it could be annoying to some guests.

We did eat a meal at POR food court, and were treated to the banging, singing, whatever celebration. It was very loud (it had to be to even hear it over the usual food court din). Didn't bother us, but I was thinking how hard it would be to actually get young kids to eat because of all the distractions in there :clown:

When my mom and I went back in 2012, she wanted to go back to BC each afternoon for a short nap. After day one we realized this wasn't really an option due to the loud pool party. This year for my parents trip, I just requested a room away from SAB, in a more quiet area. It's Disney, so you can't really be too surprised by wild noise, but it is a little much :)

Love the idea of a quiet resort!!

I don't like the constant stream of pool party forced perkiness either.

I would not enjoy the food court blaring song, I'm very sensitive to noise. That would make me never return to that particular resort for a meal or a stay.

A quiet resort wouldn't mean that children can't be there, just a microphone free zone would be nice.

They could do a library theme ;) Shhhhhhhhhhh! :ssst::tiptoe:

(I realize intended tone is lost in written text - this is not meant as a jibe or sarcastic remark - your opening line made me laugh though :rotfl2: :thumbsup2)

It would be interesting to see how a quiet resort would do, in a business sense!

I also think an adults-only resort would be a neat option.

Also with the OP on this. The pool parties are too long now. Once or twice for up to an hour would be fine. In the food court, that loud - no way, hate that.

I would like to see WDW reintroduce the idea of the "quiet pool" where possible. The smaller pool should be signed and enforced, or at least for certain hours of the day and evening. Quiet pool means no ball play, no shouting, no running, just quiet enjoyment.

How about this: WDW should pick a resort in the MK area and another in the EPCOT area and build a new pool area, and make it adults only. Allow pool hopping if adults sign up for them to limit capacity. (hey, another FP+ idea.)

I am with you OP :thumbsup2 I don't mind so much the games and such but the microphone and blasting music is what gets me. We are Big Poly fans and one of the main reasons is the hawaiian theme and MUSIC! I just love hanging at the beach between parks and hearing that music and staring at the castle. Unforunately, thats not the case anymore :rolleyes1 When I am in disney I only want to hear strictly Disney Stuff, the music walking down main street, epcot entry music, wishes theme ,stacey on the must do's etc. Heck I even change my ringtone to a disney tune ;) I am all for Kids having fun, but I really don't want to hear Beyonce, Miley, etc when I can hear them at home.
