Venting about Walmart

Do you shop at Walmart? Is your town being taking over by Walmart? Well, apparently mine is. I live in Daytona Beach, Florida and I find it hard to believe that there is five Walmart's in close proximity of one another. [4 Super Walmart's and 1 Food Market]. When I went shopping recently, I became intrested in Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. Therefore, as a gift to myself, I purchased the "Gold" edition. When I got home and tried to install it in my computer it simply didn't work. I had no idea why. I read up on the game and found out that you need special devices or chips inside your computer to run it. Okay, well I decided to take it back and exchange it. So, I go back to Walmart and simply tell me what happened.

I usually love Walmart and would perfer it over Target anyday; however, recently something changed. I would not rather shop at Target over Walmart anyday.

Back to the story. After I tell this person the problem they respond with the following, "Oh Well." I told them I had the receipt and they could care less. They told me, "You should be more careful in your selections. Have a nice day." I was outragged. After the fact, I read that you are not allowed to return Electronics; however, I felt I should have got respect. I was spoken to as if I was a child and I wouldn't even speak to a child in this manner.

So, I can't run the game and it is sitting here at home collecting dust. It is the Gold edition. Point of the story is, what happened to the Christmas spirit? Jeez, I don't know but I would rather make the longer drive to Target than shop at any of the five Walmart's in town.

If anyone would be intrested in this game or trading for another, that would be great. I could simply send you the requirements for it. If needed.

Good Evening...

I bought that game as well at Target a few months ago. It wouldn't run on my computer without freezing up. I returned mine to Target without questions asked. Maybe they didn't realize I had opened it, I don't know. I do know that most stores don't take back opened software because it's so easy to copy.

cds, dvds and software are NOT supposed to be returned after opening due to copyright laws and the fact that pirating is SOOOOO easy. If it is defective it is to be exchanged for the same title only. (5 years retail customer service experience with multiple companies) if it is returned after opening the retailer can lose its liscence to carry products by that company. Now the company that makes that game makes a bunch of others, imagine all walmarts never being allowed to carry products from that company again. It isn't that they don't care, they would love to help, but that is one thing managers don't bend the policy on due to the possible reprecutions.

That being said, call the manufacturer and they MAY refund you. I've seen it happen before.

I totally understand that. I was just upset at the way they handled the situation. They always say they are there for help, etc... But why have such a negative attitude with someone who was being kind and polite.
