and I am NOT happy about it plus it's really weird!

So, I opened a new account at my old bank and neeed to order checks and deposit slips. I've always ordered from Checks in the Mail (CITM) and never had a problem. They are fast, pretty cheap and (almost) always accurate.

I got my order in the mail 3 days after I placed it and the routing number was wrong. So I called CITM and said the routing number was wrong. Even faxed a copy of my temp check over. They said "well that doesn't match what printed on your checks" REALLY!?!?!

They said well you entered the info and it printed what you entered. I said no, I sure did not, I entered the number that was showing on my temp check. After 2 days and as many customer service people later, they are refusing to take responsibilty saying that I entered the wrong info.

How could I have entered a number I didn't see? I think their system defaulted to a standard FL routing number for that bank, I mean it's enough they are calling me a liar but I mean of all things to "mis-key" how could I have "mis-keyed" a valid bank routing number that just wasn't mine? :furious:

Bottom line they said they'd reprint at 1/2 price. I said congratulations you've successfully ripped me off for the first and last time and hung up. I'm so mad!

Ay ay ay - sorry you had such a bad experience.

I had a bad one with Kodak when they printed my Christmas cards. I ended up filing a dispute with my credit card company, who issued me a temporary credit. After a couple of months, and evidence that Kodak was not living up to their end of the bargain, they made the credit permanent.

Good luck.

I think I may go ahead and dispute since I paid with my Visa debit - Maybe I'll get somewhere.

I love my online bill pay! :goodvibes: I haven't ordered checks in 2 years! If your bank has it, give it a try, you might like it and then you won't have to worry about checks anymore.

Sorry you're having problems  I hope it works out for you.

Here are a couple of hints:

Does this vendor have online customer service? If you haven't used it already, start a new inquiry that way. I made all of my inquiries through online service, so I had a written record of all of our communications. Mastercard really had some detailed questions, and the emails back and forth gave me all the answers I needed.

Have you sent the company back the checks? If you haven't and are going to, make sure you get delivery confirmation as proof you have returned the product.

Respond to Visa's inquiries immediately. There is a time limit for you to respond, and if you don't respond within that time limit, your claim will be closed.

Good luck.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions - they do have a live chat feature. I'll try that tomorrow when I can print to .pdf and keep them!

I'll also request an address where I can send them back to. They are of no use to me anyway.Hmm wonder if I could just re-seal the box and put return to sender? I'd hate to spend any more than I already have.

I LOVE online billpay and use it for *almost* everything. I write very few checks but for some services like our pest control - which is a private small, co., I have to be old fashioned.

You can try that, but my credit card company specifically requested proof that I had returned the product. Plus the returns department may not be the same as where the product was sent from, so your return may just get lost in the system.

Did you order them online or snail mail?? You should be able to go back and get a copy of the order you placed and that will show what numbers were entered by you and that will determine who is at fault.

I take it that you placed the order on line? Or was it ordered by the bank? You will need to ask to see the burden of proof that it was your error. Because in this case, if they say you entered the information wrongly, the credit card company may say that there's nothing to prove them incorrect.

Good luck hon.
