Vent: As I sit here crying...

I just wanted to update this (because I'm excited, not because it's big news). I FINALLY found my receipt for the car payment they said I missed. So I called them Sunday to give them the info, make sure they knew it WAS paid, and offer to send them a copy of the proof from the m.o. company. I was told that they never said I didn't make the March payment! Rather than get mad and tell them off, I just let it go. I'm ahead of the game with my payments so no harm done. And my financial aid office JUST got my review done today. Ten days before the quarter ends. This one does make me mad. I had to fill out several sets of paperworkd more than once, and when they finally got all the info they needed (two Mondays ago) they just got it entered into the system. But all's well that ends well! :)

I was told that they never said I didn't make the March payment!

Oh man, that's rotten!

I would call back, ask them to send you some sort of letter, or statement, stating that you are totally current, all payments accounted for. Just to make SURE.

Oh and something I've just started doing with paperwork is putting them in binders! I've always been a fan of office supplies, so I got to buy a hole punch (swingline lite touch for 18 bucks or so) and I got some cheapie binders, and I've been having a ball, turning my impossible files into nice hole-punched, categorized with subject dividers, binders. Got the idea from a mystery novel about a fancy schmancy law office, where they kept their files in binders. :) Anyway it's much less easy to mis-file something in a binder.

First, take a real deep breath and have a seat. The end of the world is not at your door step. Now, start at the beginning, and solve one problem at a time. You can do this. Don't think your in this alone, ask for help. Try to talk to as many people as possible face to face. Remember, it's not legal for any one to shoot you or eat you. Good Luck.:grouphug:

That is the single most awsomely motivating tidbit I've ever heard...LOL I may end up using it in the future...
OP, hang in there! As others have said, things will get better. And take things one at a time. You can't jump all of the hurdles all at once.

ETA: Just read your update...good to see that at least some of the stuff is starting to look up! :)

YAY!!!! Thanks for the update!

agnes!

I'm not a big whiner, but the past twenty-four hours is wearing on me right now. I'm being audited by my college for financial aid purposes. My business (which is run by family) listed me as an independant contractor. Not only did this screw me in that I had to pay more taxes, but it may cause me to miss my deadline to receive financial aid due to the audit. I have worked extremely hard as far as school goes. I work full time, have four children, and am taking four classes per quarter. I have a 4.0 GPA. So this is really upsetting. On top of that, I tried to make my car payment online yesterday but had to call customer service due to problems with the website. While we were on the phone, they informed me that they had only received an $8.00 car payment from me for March!!! I actually paid $308.00 in March, but they weren't showing that. At the end of March I moved into my new home, and apparently have misplaced my receipt for that month. Murhpy's law maybe? It took me quite a while to rebuild my credit after a bad divorce, and I have actually paid a little over the due amount each month, so for them to inform me now that I owe them an extra $300 since March is a shock and kind of heartbreaking. Ok, I'm done being a crybaby. Going to find my big girl panties so I can deal with all of this! (and if I posted this twice I apologize, my pc is nuts this morning!)

That is great they found the payment. it sounded like a clerical error on their part, they probably discovered it after and didn't want to admit it :)

that happened to me a few years ago, toyota insisted I didn't make a payment I insisted I did and had the proof, well it turns out they didn't note it correctly when they received it.

once i made a mistake when i was writing the check for the mortgage payment, i wrote the correct amount in numbers, but for some reason, when I wrote it out in words, i wrote it wrong, and it was short 300 dollars,
I couldn't believe i did that when they called. they said the two have to match, and if they didn't they had to go with the written amount.
anyway, now i use online bill pay with the bank, much easier for me LOL

*sigh* I made my payment that month with a money order. I opened my own checking account in April, and have paid from there ever since. And it's killing me that I can't find the receipt, because I keep all my receipts for book keeping reasons. So I dropped the ball on this one. Not their fault. Well, they can't find the payment, but it's up to me to keep receipts. So don't think I'm bashing them, I'm more disappointed in myself!

I run 12 convenience stores and we would have the ability to pull the MO report and give you the serial number (if you knew when you bought it). You would then call the MO company and they could send you a copy of the signed/validated MO.

Where did you buy it?

Glad you found your receipt and GLAD you are not backed up ion your payment.

You sure do have a lot on your plate.......sending good vibes and wishing you LUCK with everything! :wizard:

I was notified over the summer that my FASFA was chosen by my school for "further income verification". After it was all said and done, I ended qualifying for a grant instead of needing to accept a student loan. I was very pleased with that outcome! :goodvibes
Hope your financial aid audit works out in your favor.
