I feel like beating my head on the wall. Wishes has been there for years and years, I didn't think twice about having "Wishes Welcome Gathering" printed on all the STD's for our party at the GF Marina.

Now Wishes is being switched out for Summer. I just spent $200 on the STD's and no Wishes. On top of that I don't think I want to spend $500 to pipe in the audio if it's going to be the Magic, Music & Mayhem fireworks show as rumored. I'm questioning even keeping the venue as the main reason we wanted it was for the Wishes experience. I know the other fireworks shows are great, but just not what I had planned for.

I'm so frustrated.

ETA...Our event coordinator confirmed it was changing but didn't know what to and for what exact dates.

ETA again...I know this post has no point, but needed to vent to people who wouldn't stare blankly back at me like my family. ;)

Oh no! No more Wishes? :sad2: Was hoping to have a Wishes Dessert Party after our wedding next year! It's a real shame, Wishes had real sentimental value for us as we got engaged after the show last year. I guess that's decided it for us, Illuminations dessert party it is!

so sorry to hear that! i completely understand why you are upset as i would be too.
hopefully your event coordinator will help you come up with some options that you will be happy with:hug:

She's saying it's just for the Summer season, so fingers are crossed that's true!

I think it's just for the summer. I wouldn't worry too much about what you've printed up, you can always make an announcement right before the show starts or just put a little sign up saying it's a different show. Like how they do with Broadway shows. If your guests are anything like mine, they won't really know the difference anyway. ;)

I know it's frustrating but I do think if you did decide to keep the Dessert Party it would still be a once in a lifetime experience for your guests.

I was a little sad too because we're having a "Wishes" DP too, but I watched the Magic, Music and Mayhem fireworks on youtube and thought they were better. I also liked the music overall much better since it was more classic Disney songs. Although I could have done without the pirate part at the end...but I'm sure our guests will still enjoy it. I do agree that Wishes fits the theme of a wedding much better with dreams coming true and all that though.

When I told DF he was really happy, he hates the Wishes music (or Wiii-sheese as he calls it) and thinks the kids singing are creepy. When I told him what the new show was, he said "OOooh that sounds exciting!"

I completely understand! I panicked when I heard about them swapping out Wishes. We're having our wedding reception at the Napa room specifically for Wishes, as it has sentimental value for us.

Our wedding is in December, and I've been told that Wishes will be back by then. If not, we're seriously considering changing our reception venue, as we haven't officially signed our LOA yet. *fingers crossed*

I know your disappointed & I understand. This Disney bride had a "broken" yacht the night before her Disney wedding.
My BFF had to change where her reception was because "Italy" was still under rehab.......they let her know 3 weeks before the wedding.
Also "Breathless" was still being used for a movie so they had to take a Friendship boat from the YC to Epcot.

Just know the fireworks will still be beautiful & your guests thrilled. They are their for you & your honey:lovestruc
Best of luck

Maryann I understand how you're feeling!! We've been saying from the get-go that we're having a Wishes! DP. When I first heard Wishes wouldn't be around this summer I was very upset. I even contemplated cancelling our DP because of it. But no matter what, Disney always does an amazing job with any fireworks they put on and I'm sure your guests will be happy no matter what fireworks show it will be!

Like Amanda said, it's Disney, and they will do an amazing job with any fireworks display. I'm sure your guests will be very happy to just be there.
It's such a nice view of the fireworks and the castle. It will still be magical.:goodvibes
