Vent about the Cable installation

DBF and I decided to get cable installed at my house (I haven't had cable in about 5 years). When we called to sign up for the cable they told us that they would be here Friday, July 29 between 8am and 12 pm.
Well, it's 7/29 at 2pm and guess what??? The cable guy still has not come. I've called twice now to find out what's going on and each time I was told that the cable guy is still coming and they will call as soon as the cable company can find out where the installation person is at.
I woke up at 7:30am so that I wouldn't miss the cable guy. The weather is beautiful here in the St Louis area... I could have done anything - but I really wanted to go and ride my horse. I only have one week left of my 3 week summer break left and this was not the way that I wanted to spend my day :(
Thanks for listening to me, I think I'm going to call back in about 5 minutes and ask to speak to a manager!!!
Is this common, has anyone else had to deal with this?
 
Yes its very common. I stayed home to wait for Directv one day and they gave me a range of 1-5, they never came until 6:00. Then couldn't even make the installation they didn't have the equipment, so they came back at 7:00pm! Which was fine my SO dealt with them!

My new refrigerator died after 3 months of use, I've been waiting 1 1/2 months for a replacement, yes, 1 1/2 months without a refrigerator. Well Lowe's has scheduled delivery for Sunday, they've given me NO time frame, they will call on Sunday talk about a wasted day. I only get 2 weeks vacation time and NO personal days and am now giving up one of my days off to wait for a refrigerator.

Well, I guess I'm glad that it's not just my bad luck!!! I hope they come early on Sunday so that you have the rest of the day to do what you want!!!
 
Thanks, I just got off the phone with Lowe's and am SO angry with them, I had to let off some steam!

ok, here's the kicker... I posted the first message at 2:05... the cable company is now telling me that the installation person came by at 2:01. They have a discription of my home, color of my siding and front door, the location of the address numbers on my house, etc, etc.... They must have at least driven by the house...
I just don't get it, I've been sitting 5 feet from the front door since before 2.... am i going crazy?
 
ok... DBF just noticed a mistake in my first post... they were supposed to be here between 8-12 not 8-5 as I originally posted... this makes more sense and you can see why I'm so upset!!!

The Cust. Service representative has told us that the tech has 10 more customers to see today... and that he will try to get to us!!! 10 more stops between now and 5 (or even 6)???????????????? I don't think that I'll be watching cable tonight!!!!
