My 12 yo son plays basketball on the middle school and travel level. He is OK but definetly needs some tweeking and improvement the older he gets (as I'm sure most do at this age) to keep competitive.
He loves
basketball. Well the older he gets the harder it is for my husband and myself to just give him pointers and practice with him , plus we wanted a little more , someone with more knowledge and experience. We heard about this program that according to their testimony and emails from the director would be great for my son and definetly improve his skills.
Two other boys from his team tried out also. Well let me tell you for the money we paid, it has been nothing but a fiasco. We were told the boys would have numerous practices , they have 1 a week for an hour and even that one , they share a gym court with another team who practices at the same time. They've had 3 coaches in 3 weeks. The one quit after a week, the other had tickets to the final 4 this weekend(fine I would have loved to be there too) but the boys didn't know his replacement. He knows nothing about them. He was there for Fridays games. Last night, he doesn't show up. The dads from the team stepped up to coach the boys.
Its nothing but a huge free for all at the games even when the coach is there. They have been taught no plays, no strategies. During practice they dribble and shoot lay-ups. OK my son could do that in the driveway.
I emailed the director a few times and he has avoided my questions. Well after the coach didn't show last night I emailed him another, and it was not so nice this time.
Then we were never told we have to pay $10.00 a person per weekend to even attend these games with our son after paying the significant amount for the program itself. So $20.00 a weekend for DH and I to both see our son play. We have been taking turns. One go Friday one Saturday and just paying $10.
I know there is nothing we can do now, but chalk it up to an expensive lesson. I mean DS is getting alot of play time ( if thats what you call it) Its just very frustrating, to say the least.

) are or what program you joined but a DF of mine had her son in something up in the Poconos and it sounds like the same mess of an experience. TONS of money but the coaches didn't show up and canceled stuff all over the place, not to mention the fact they would have to drive hours to get to games. I wonder if this is the same organization since you are in PA too?
