Velvet Party-crowded Hotel?

I've been reading about the party that's held on the last Thursday of the month at the Velvet Bar. We'll be going the last week of January. Does this party make for a more busier whole weekend and/or week at the hotel than the rest of the month, or just for that Thursday?

I have been there during threee velvet sessions. I have found the hotel usually just gets busy in the afternoon and the evening of the actual gig. Not on the days that follow it. There seemed like a lot of locals at the event.

During the evening it get's very busy in the lobby and the car park. Valet is also very busy. Music is also very played very loud in the lobby and can be heard right throught the hotel up until about 9pm. So the hotel really does live up to it's name

For the last velvet sessions we received complimentary tickets for the event. We also found it difficult parking the car, so they comped valet parking for us.

We were at the Hard Rock Hotel at the end of June. The band was set up in the lobby and there was restricted access for a good part of the day, but it was quite interesting to see what was going on. I think the event is attended by locals as well as guests (it seemed to be quite a dressy affair). We didn't feel it really impacted upon us.
