I'm looking for new food to try this year, and was debating the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ... the thing is, I hate eating meat right off the bone :snooty: so I was wondering if the veggie skewers are any good? I like comfort food and we always do the broccoli cheese soup in a bread bowl, cafe orleans, carnation cafe, but I wanted to try something different. Maybe the stew in a bread bowl at French Market? Any suggestions? I may need to add another day just so I can work in some more meals!

For comfort food, I would go to Plaza Inn or Carnation Café. I love the fried chicken from Plaza, but for no bones, the pot roast is pretty good too. Carnation Café has a meat loaf meal, and baked potato soup. LOVE this soup!

Fried green tomato sandwich at Hungry Bear.

Not really comfort food, but the pastrami burger at the Village Haus is very good. Ate there for the first time on my last trip.

At Pacific Wharf in DCA they sometimes have turkey pot pie in a bread bowl. It is great. And the corn dogs at Stage Door Cafe are also great.

Veggie skewers at BTRBBQ are good. They have some veg and tofu on each skewer. If you want them, make sure to let the hostess know when checking in since they take about 15 minutes to prepare. I would also advise getting the BBQ sauce on the side so you can control the amount that goes on them.
