Hi,
I think I read somewhere that they have Veggie Burgers in Pluto' (or somewhere on the ship??) Is this true? If so, has anyone had one and can you tell me if they are more like Boca Burgers or Gardenburgers? Also are they on white buns or whole wheat?

Thanks!!

yes, they do (was on the ship last week). I believe you can also get them on the room service menu as well. I didn't try one so I can't comment on taste.

Suesings, not a whole wheat roll to be found. They're not bad but if you're looking for them because you are a vegetarian, note that they are cooked in in the same spots and with the same utensils as the meat products somewhat defeating that particular purpose.

Thanks for the replies.

I won't reply on the "skeetshooting" comment versus eating a cow's butt :rotfl2:

I'm not that concerned with where they are cooked as I'm sure they are pretty good about that and it won't be a big hunk of "cow butt" I'm sure. I can deal with a few spats of it. :rotfl: I'll leave the "mad cow" to everyone else thanks. ;)

Hopefully more people will respond who have tried them.

They are more like Boco Burgers than Gardenburgers. Same at Castaway Cay at Cookies (you have to ask for them there).

I like meat, raw meat right on the bone. In fact, just bring me a live cow! I'll carve off what I want, and ride the rest home! Dum da da dum!

I wonder if they are the same soy based burgers that they have at WDW. I prefer the gardenburger type.

I tryied the veggie burger at Pluto's on our recent cruise and I though it was yummy! :Pinkbounc
And no it doesn't come on a wheat bun.

We've had them at Pluto's and they're not too bad. They're more along the lines of a Boca burger. They have many condiments you can use to dress them up, as well. They are a vegan soy-based burger. They also have vegetarian wraps at Scoops daily as well as veggie pizza at Pinocchio's.

Oh, one more thing -- the potato salad on CC has bacon in it. It's hard to see, but it is there.

Sincerely,
A Very Happy Ovo-Vegetarian,
Melody ;)

Can I just say without starting an argument, that some of the comments (although in a joking manner) toward those of us who choose a non-meat consumption lifestyle can be viewed as offensive? Overall, it just isn't very nice to poke fun at us for our lifestyle. If you weren't interested in the original post than perhaps you should have taken your 'humor' somewhere else. I for one do not click on threads that I know I have no interest in or any good advice -- especially when it is a question pertaining to a flesh-based diet.

Please be nice to us, we're not trying to start trouble.

This actually does bother me. I complained about it after requesting a veggie burger on CC. They grilled it on the same grill and used the meat utensils to flip and serve it. That is so disgusting to me -- and not very veggie friendly!

CRSNDSNY, On request will they cook the vegie burger on a different part of the grill, in a pan, or at least clean the grill first? I would also have a problem with mine being cooked with the meat burgers.

Thanks for the reminder to play nice. The OP asked a serious question, which simply deserves an answer. She wasn't asking people to tell their opinions about being vegie vs meat eating. Trust me, as a vegie, I've heard every comment out there and even comments that are funny the first time aren't the third, tenth, twenty-first, etc. :bored:

Thank you for pointing out that just because someone chooses to not kill animals for food they should not be made sport of. I don't know why carnivores seem to feel they are above everyone else or where they get their misplaced sense of superiority.

CRSNDSNY and Tigger&Belle for addressing the issue of the not-so-funny comments. As a pesco-vegetarian I find them offensive, and I will leave it at that as not to start an argument, ;) . I think a post was listed recently by one of the moderators to please keep the threads on target to what the question by the OP is and not to stray off of it as some recent threads were leading to some arguments between diser's. I think this is great advice!

Starwood, in my experience most people who make comments really aren't trying to be malicious, but more funny. Like I mentioned in my reply, though, is that we've all heard these type comments more times than we can count and they lose whatever humor was intended. I'm sure that we've all been guilty of making jokes about various things that, when looking back, we realize was either in poor taste (no pun intended :) ) or has been already made many times before. My daughter's boyfriend's parents are nutritionists and I know that I try not to make any comments about that (try, didn't say that I've always kept me mouth shut ;) ) since I figure that they've probably already heard it all.

Thanks everyone for your support.
To answer the question about grilling something separately, I haven't tried it. I'm sure it is worth a try, though. If anyone is cruising soon and requests this, be sure to report back. I'd be very curious to hear if the request is easily understood by the CM(s).

I think they seem the same as the ones at WDW. I also prefer the gardenburger type, so we don't order them (btw, at WDW's Grand Floridian resort, they have a homemade veggie burger that is a little different, but I still prefer the garden burger). We are lacto-ovo vegetarians, so cheese is alright for us. At CC I asked for cheese on a bun and then added condiments. On deck 9, we tend to get the veggie pizza. I also noticed they had nachos on our last cruise at Plutos (but we never ordered them, we just LOVE the frend fries, so anytime we get something on deck 9, we usually get veggie pizza, french fries, and ice cream at scoops--I know, not healthy, but we like it).

BTW, I haven't tried this either, but someone posted that for the in room dining there is a cheese and meat grilled sandwich, but you can order it with just cheese. They also have Peanut Butter and Jelly (but they are those smuckers uncrustable sandwichs).

Interesting idea about the sandwich. I'll have to try that. I did make the 'mistake' in ordering the pb&j -- I didn't enjoy the Smuckers Uncrustable. :(

BTW -- We've actually once skipped regular rotation dining in favor of veggie burgers and fries on deck 9 instead! It is one of our favorite cruise memories!
