Vegetarians?

Oh yes bacon is in everything.
I was reading a vegetarian board, and this woman was at a fair and there was a brownie stand giving out free samples. She goes to take a bite, and then looks at the brownie...there was GROUND BEEF in the brownie, on purpose. Yuck!
The picture of the cookies reminded me.
Oh, nasty.

John, you got that picture from that 'thisiswhyyourefat' website didn't you? That's such a nasty site.

I was watching A Lyon in the Kitchen a few days ago and I saw that you make tofu with soybean milk and calcium sulfate. Would this mean it would taste kind of like soymilk? I've never had it before and I've been wanting to try it, but never knew what it was made of.

lol well of course. I'm through page 54. I'm attempting to view every page lol.

I have to try tofu; but I bet I won't like it. I don't know, I never have good luck with liking these type of things.

I had to stop after page 4 or so. It was just too gross.

Make it in a stir-fry. Last time I had it I made it with some pre-made stir-fry veggies, two tbsp. red wine, two tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp of rice vinegar, 1 tbsp water and 1 tbsp of melted peanut butter.

Ok here's the deal with tofu. When it's done right, it's great...but if you go wrong with tofu, it's really bad.
Try a whole bunch of different tofus, you can buy them in different textures and firmness. Find which one you like best. Make sure to marinate the tofu for a long period of time, so it has a chance at having flavor. Stir fry is a great option. Mix it up with a whole bunch of different things.
The first time I had tofu I hated it. But then the more I made it (or got it at restaurants) I liked it. That's my advice. Now I don't eat a ton of tofu but I do enjoy it.
Peta2 makes a shirt that says Powered by Tofu. It's so cute!

And that website...totally craziness!

I have to add I found another thing I like! Boca makes brauts (sp?) and they were really good! I don't like Boca's veggie burgers though.

I'm going to go out and get some of the Morningstar chicken.

If anyone wants to have tacos, get some of the Morningstar meal starters and add the sauce stuff they sell in the kits at the grocery store and it tastes as good as Taco Bell (which is what I miss). Sooo yummy.

Does anyone have any tips for good meat free alternatives in Disney World?

Disney World is one of the best places to vacation for a vegetarian, I've heard. You can call ahead to any of your table services and ask them to put next to your name that you're vegetarian, and a lot of the times the chefs will come out and work with you on what you want. A lot of places also have veg menus.

They have veggie burgers at every place that has regular burgers; although I haven't tried them.

Lol, this is just what I've gathered from other DISers. You should go read a veg dining review! There are actually quite a few good ones! :)

The chefs are wonderful at WDW and DL. If we go to a restaurant and the only thing on the menu is salad, I'm sorry I'm not always up for a salad. The chefs will come out and talk to me about what I like and don't like. I've never gotten a bad thing from Disney.
(:

They are THE BEST at Disney World! The chefs are always willing to help you come up with something, and they just want you to have a magical meal :hippie: It's really awesome to go somewhere and NOT have to worry what's on the menu, and if you'll be able to eat there. Disney is the best :)

Wow! Thank you guys so much! It's great to know that they will work with me. I hate going to restaurants and only having a few options. I get tired of salad and I really have to be in the mood for it. I had a veggie burger at Burger King once and I did not like it at all. But I am always anxious to try new things!!!

So, everyone, do you guys not eat gelatin either? I've just noticed how many things gelatin was in, besides well, jello, lol.

well when i was veg, i ate whatever i felt comforatable with.
i didnt feel comforatable eating meat, but jello was fine cause i didnt feel like i was eating an animal.

i dont believe you should follow "rules" eat whatever you believe is ok to eat.

when i was a vegan, i didn't. gelatin is really in a lot of things though. gotta be careful.

i guess i felt like eating an animals feet was just like eating anything else on the animal. :confused3

i do believe that there is now artificial gelatin though.

Thanks for your input about gelatin.

So, I tried that Special K Protein Plus this morning. It was pretty good! I believe it's wheat and soy flakes? Anyway, it was only lightly sweetened, so don't buy it if you're used to the really sugary cereals. Personally, I liked it, and thought it kept it's crunchiness for a long time. It was super tasty with the vanilla soymilk. (: I think it's a good way to get in some protein.

I'm so proud of myself. For the past couple of days I have created some pretty awesome veggie lunches. Friday it was a spicy black bean burger wrap, and today it was a veggie quesidilla. :goodvibes:

That's awesome.
The cereal sounds pretty good...might have to try that.
Has anyone tried the special k protein shakes/water? Are those any good?
It's so much fun to be creative with food Jenny :)

Yeah, and apparently it has vitamin b-12, which a lot of vegetarians/vegans are deficient in because it's only found in animal and animal products.

I haven't tried the water/shakes yet, but I love all their cereals and protein bars. (:

And the shakes/water look really good, but I'd love to hear from someone who's tried them.

I believe Shelby tried the water and said it was good, but made her mouth feel dry.
