ETA: I lied. Just mentioned the thread to my mom & I guess she is still being offered the tenderloin... :rotfl:.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

that is hilarious! Thank goodness my mom isn't like that! though some of my relatives look at me with a boggled look as if they just can't comprehend.

'What? I don't get it'

I have been a veggie since age 13, now 26. I have been to WDW many times since then... my favorites are:

BOMA- tons of stuff is veggie plus the chef will make you something else if you don't have enough to eat. I am lactose intolerant so I have trouble with dairy and still found plenty to eat here.

Le Cellier- the rissotto is out of this world.

jiko- very good, but a little pricey.

cali grill- we have been here a few times and have really enjoyed it. they usually make me something special as their veggie dish usually has cheese.
______________
we ate at mama melrose as a last minute lunch in dec. i had the eggplant (which is my favorite food) and really didn't care for it at all. i left at least 1/2 of it on the plate-

san angel inn- i had the combo plate- it was pretty good but we find better mexican at home. the sevice was awful- it will be awhile before we go back.

crystal palace- we ate here for dinner before MVMCP- i found plenty to eat and it was all very tasty.

sci fi- i have not been here for about 8 years though i recall one of the worst veggite burgers i have ever had. since then i have looked at the menu a few times and never seen anything veggie so we haven't been back.

Hope this helps and you enjoy your trip!

At Sci-fi, I think I asked for one of their pasta/veggies/chicken dishes minus the chicken. The waitress doublechecked that there wasn't any other 'hidden' meat in it and it was fine. It was pretty good, actually. I've never tried the veggie burger there - I have to deal with the Boca burger at Cosmic Ray's or Pop's food court when we eat there and that's enough Boca for me.

At Mama Melrose's, I had a pasta dish with a non-meat-based tomato sauce with cheese on top (easy to leave off) that was yummy. I really enjoyed the bruschetta appetizer, too.

As a note, many waiters at both RFCs in WDW told me that the Alfredo sauce was veggie, but a waitress at another RFC (who was veggie herself) let me know that it wasn't. Made that stomachache after eating there make sense......

Enjoy! :)

Thanks!

At sci-fi they have a veggie plate with shredded potatos on top or bottom depending on which cook you get. I had it last july and thought it was pretty decent, so there is something veggie there.

We didn't get the DDP this last trip as we use DVC points. We are so excited to be able to use it this year!!

We got the nachos without meat at WC and at MM we had 2 apps and I had the flatbread pizza as my lunch entree. The wrap was the toubouli and my husband loved it :)

Hi! My boyfriend and I are going to disney world in september, we're going to be on the dining plan and we're debating where to eat! We do not eat any kind of meat. No chicken, no fish, no seafood, etc. We do eat dairy and eggs. Here are some of our options.

Momma melrose
sci fi diner
wispering canyon
1900 park fare
San Angel Inn

Of the places you have listed, I've tried Whispering Canyon twice and don't plan to return. The food was ok both times, but the "dining experience" was not at all what I've read about. Maybe I just had bad luck, but it's not worth going out of the way to dine there. The nachos appetizer was boring, to put it mildly. The stew was pretty good (wouldn't say wonderful, but ok) and the smoothy, which a person can get as their beverage, was delicious.

We went to Sci Fi for the first time this January. I'd only read bad things about it before, but we were hungry and the Italian place (Mama Melrose) was totally booked and my favorite place (Prime Time Cafe) was closed for rehab). We had a great meal at Sci Fi! We had the Spinach and Artichoke Dip appetizer (very good) and they made a vegie penne pasta (left out the shrimp (I think they put extra vegies) and had a hot fudge sundae for dessert. My 18yo DD and I shared a dining credit and had plenty of food.

It's been years since we've been to San Angel Inn since it wasn't good the last time we were there (they were supposed to make special vegie rice and didn't and the chef was put out that he had to do that for us). I don't know if the vegie menu is any better now.

Mama Melrose used to be good, but it's been awhile since we've been there.

It's been awhile since we've been to Park Fare. The last time the vegie selections weren't great and they were stocking things towards the end of breakfast even though we were still paying pull breakfast prices.

We love Boma and Prime Time Cafe (for the experience as much as the food). There are a lot of counter serve places, too, but I need to come back and write about those since I'm being paged by my son...

thanks tigger! did you have breakfast @ 1900 park fare? i was curious about dinner and what the veggie options were there. We're somewhat interested in eating there but can barely find anything about it. i was hoping to try to e-mail them to find out exactly what is meat free but no one could give me an email address on the other post i made.

Thanks.

Yes, we did have breakfast. I'm betting that you can find some better dinner choices, unless you have your heart set on the restaurant.

I forgot--do you have Boma dinner on your list? It's so wonderful for vegetarians (and meat eaters, for that matter). I don't think I'm going this trip, at least for dinner, but I went for lunch and dinner last trip and I usually go for dinner.

Thanks to doberlady for the photos! Everything looks so good. :thumbsup2

I ate at Whispering Canyon a few years ago with my family (3 meat lovers). At that time the vegetarian dish was some type of pasta dish which was tasty, but I definitely felt cheated given all the food my family got (all 3 ordered the skillet).

This time around I'm going with my meat-eating girlfriend and we'll be on the dining plan. She definitely wants to eat at Whispering Canyon, but I think it would be a waste of a TS credit for me.

I also have only eaten at 1900 Park Fare at breakfast--there were plenty of veggie options then--but don't know about dinner.
