We are going on our honeymoon courtesy of the fiance's father. He didn't want to worry about us paying for all of our meals and got the dining plan. I am SO overwhelmed trying to figure out which places we can even eat. I've looked at the sites that talk about dis dining for vegetarians and it just doesn't seem like there's a lot or else they will make you a "special" vegetarian dish of whatever they can put together in the back.

Is it worth it to even get the dining plan?? Also, I've heard that "most" places will make a vegetarian meal if requested ahead of time, but it just doesn't seem safe to make an ADR six months out and then get there and realize there's nothing to eat or their special veggie dish isn't what we want and there's no other options. Any other veggies do the dining plan and did you have any problems showing up and not finding anything? Thanks!

Every place I've eaten has at least one vegetarian meal available. Though the choices might be limited, there is something you could eat. But you're right that vegetarians are more limited than others.

Buffets are generally very good vegetarians, especially Boma. But the other places are quite good about accommodating you.

If I were you, I'd read through the menus at allears or wdwinfo and look for places which sound the best, and go from there. Really, anyone trying to make ADRs 6 months in advance faces a similar dilemma about which place to go and who in the party will like which menu.

Enjoy! And since the trip is paid for, if you get hungry after not eating your mela, you can always get a snack or something else.

First of all, congratulations! We spent our honeymoon at WDW, and it was truly magical.

I've been a vegetarian (lacto-ovo, but no poultry, seafood or shellfish) for my entire adult life, and can't recall ever having a problem at a WDW restaurant. Last year, we did 10 days on the DDP, and I had a ton of delicious food. I had them note on my reservations that I was a vegetarian, but never had to call ahead to request anything special.

Basically, every 1 credit TS restaurant will have one vegetarian entree (though some have more than one). If you don't like the choice, the chef can usually come up with something else for you. Your best bet will be to peruse the menus here on the DIS (click on dining at the top of the page) and at www.allearsnet.com to find restaurants that have things you will enjoy (keeping in mind that menus do change).

If you are a vegan, you will probably want to call ahead to make arrangements. The only other places I can think you may want to call ahead are family style restaurants (Garden Grill, 'Ohana, LTT, etc) or any of the dinner shows (Hoop de Doo Revue and Spirit of Aloha).

Here are links to a few vegetarian dining reviews I've collected (including my own--you can also do a search for vegetarian dining and will probably come up with more):

Good luck, and have fun!

Hi there,

My DD and I are both vegetarians and I have never had a problem at a Disney restaurant. We've done the dining plan four times and I think that it's a great plan even for vegetarians. In my experience, all of the restaurants have at least one vegetarian entree. Some places, like Garden Grill and Ohana that have set menus, have a vegetarian option as well. You don't have to call ahead for it. When we were there in Feb/March, Garden Grill had a butternut squash risotto and Ohana has a miso-tofu-noodle dish.

I also highly recommend Boma. I am not usually a fan of buffets, but it is incredible. My DD has an egg allergy, so I meet with the chef everytime we eat there to confirm what is safe for her to eat. The chefs have told me that 70% of the food at Boma is vegetarian.

Definitely check out the menus at allearsnet.com. The menus change a bit (and I think that the vegetarian entrees seem to change a bit more frequently), but it can give you an idea of what to expect.

Thanks everyone! I feel much better now! It seems like they're pretty flexible and that we'll still be stuffed.
