Is anyone else on here a vegetarian? I have been for about a year and a half. I did it for moral reasons. It just got too unbearable eating meat after knowing the facts about how most meat is processed.

Some questions for vegetarians:

How long have you been a veggie?

What made you become a veggie?

How do your parents feel about it?

Some for nonvegetarians:

How do you feel about vegetarianism?

Some people say they "couldn't live without meat." Do you think you could live without it?

Discuss anything you wish about vegetarianism :D

I... eat meat everyday.

I love cows, but theyz be tasty.
No, I couldnt live without meat.

Its too scrumptious.

I considered vegitarianism a few years ago - couldn't do it. I'd be extremely skinny without the meat as I don't eat a whole lot to begin with.

So vegitarianism in general, if you're one, I'll support you by not trying to shove meat down your throats. It's a respectable thing to do, in my opinion, if its done right. And by that, I mean replacing meats with just as nutritious fruits and vegtables and everyotherhealthyfoodgroupoutthere. :D

I have been a veggie for almost four months.

A couple of my friends are veggies, and I love animals and I came to the conclusion that I did not believe eating them.

It's really not hard for me to give up meat, I realized after I became one, that I don't actually eat meat that often (and it is really easy to resist when I have the chance). Meat just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

My parents are cool with it, and they respect the fact that I don't eat meat even though they still do.

Its basically the most rebellious (I know, it's not rebellious, but I like to think it is) thing I'm ever going to do.

i have never been a vegetarian, and i honestly have little respect for those who say they're doing it for animal rights. i was a vegan for years and years. veganism is for animal rights. vegetarianism is veganism with commitment issues, in my eyes.

I would like to be a vegetarian, but i'd miss meat too much and I hate almost every vegetable (I do like sweetcorn, peppers, potatoes and beans though)

I am not.
I could never be. I like meat. Im anemic, and I crave red meat all the time. I love the taste of it, and I am seriously addicted to it.

For those vegitarians out there, who do it for the animals, I give you a bravo.

How long have you been a veggie? Since like October...I have had NO meat. But I have really not been a big meat eater for years now.

What made you become a veggie? Mostly health benefits. And it just kind of grosses me out. I LOVE animals but that is not the primary reason.

How do your parents feel about it? My mom doesn't care. What's she going to do, make me eat meat? I don't think so.

The only things I really miss are bacon and pepperoni.

There are plenty of veggie options out there. Morningstar makes "hamburgers" that could pass as the real thing.

How can they not let you?

Wow...I guess I'm surprised parents would make their kids eat something that they don't want to eat, especially in regards to lifestyle choice. It's not just like not wanting to eat your vegetables.

I wish people would research health benefits of it. Like eating red meat increases your chance of certain cancers, like pancreatic cancer.

That is why I cannot say I am doing it purely for animal rights. It's mostly health benefits for me. I love animals very much but there is no way I could say I am doing it just for the animals when I eat dairy products and have leather purses.

MEAT IS MURDER!!!
tasty, tasty murder...

Sorry, I had to. I have that piece of flair on Facebook.

Anyway, I support you in your endeavour, but I am waaaay too much of a meat person. I always have and I always will be. I don't think I could live without it since I'd rather eat meat twice a week than have to remember to take an iron supplement pill every day because I'm iron deficient.

im not a vegetarian, but i might consider it if i knew more about it from people with personal expiriences.
i think i would be fine living without meat i only eat it three times a week anyway. and im very picky so i often miss out. i do have a question though if you are a vegetarian what do you have to do to stay healthy and replace the nutirents we rely on meat to get?

Quite honestly when i was a vegitarian i had to get my protien in the form of milk and eggs.

I'm allergic to nuts so that wasn't an option and protien powder is unhealthy...

Veganism is great for some people but really it would have been physically imposible for some exspecially people who eat cookies, jello, wear make-up and such...

I only lasted for about a week becasue i got serriously ill and was litteraly forced meat.

I really admire vegans.
I might do it someday, once I'm out of the house.
But while I'm still here... ha, not gonna happen.
My parents don't even like me being a vegetarian that much.
Actually, it's just my mom that has the problem with it.
My dad doesn't eat that much meat for health purposes.

But I do some vegan things, like I don't buy leather shoes and I don't eat gelatin.

It's not possible for me to not eat meat.
I'll admit, I love meat, it's so tasty. I just love it, I couldn't imagine not eating it.
I don't mind being closeminded on the whole subject. This is just one thing that I do not look at the facts etc, I just kind of do what I please.

I was for about two years.
And I have to say I disagree with the comment that it isn't for animal rights. Any little bit helps so doing whatever you can, helps in some way. It's like that with most things as well.

if you really care about the cause, you make silly sacrifices like that.

vegetarians who say they're doing it for animals rights are the exact same as people who say they're for animal rights but still wear fur. you cannot have it both ways.
now, vegetarianism that is for health reasons, by all means, wear your leather shoes, wear your makeup, eat your eggs.

just don't call yourself some animal rights activist and then still use animal byproducts. because thats just silly.

How long have you been a veggie?
Ehh five or so years
What made you become a veggie?
I didn't like the thought of eating animal guts
How do your parents feel about it?
Super supportive, no joke. My uncle though, doesn't stop saying how 'terribly unhealthy' it is and that I should eat animals because God made them for us to eat.
=/

thanks.
Some of my friends think that if they dangle ham in front of my face it'll make me mad. It's like "i don't care if you eat it, i'm just not going to''
but let me tell you, it's quite annoying when people go 'does it bug you when i go like this?" then stuff meat into their mouth. no, it doesn't bug me that you're eating meat, it bugs me that you're eating in such a manner that the food is spilling out of your mouth :)

I completely see your point.
But I say, that if someone wants to contribute to a cause even a little bit, then that's great.
You can give five dollars to charity or a million, it's still money.

I contribute to the cause as much as I can, given my circumstances.
If someone wants to contribute more than the norm, then power to them!
If they want to just give up red meat and still eat chicken and fish, at least they're helping a little bit. Any little bit counts.
