Vegetarian options for counter service?

Are there any good options for vegetarians for counter service meals? We just decided to stay onsite at AKL instead of our usual off-site visit, and we are now trying to decide if a dining plan is worth it or not. Thanks!

I'm not vegetarian, but I do believe there are great options at Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD, lots of places in Epcot including Sunshine Seasons, and Columbia Harbor House in MK has a hummus sandwich that lots of people rave about. I think almost anywhere they serve burgers would also have veggie burgers available, so I think you could probably do pretty well.

Best of luck!

Tangierine Cafe at Epcot has an amazing (and large) vegetarian meal available.

LOL, that's the first think I thought of too. I'm not a vegetarian, but when I get to Tangerine Cafe I become one. I love their vegetarian meal.

I'm a vegetarian and my faves are the Tangerine Cafe, Sunshine Seasons...and the rest each have a veggie option, too, but those are the best.

My favorite counter service restaurants are:

MK - Columbia Harbor House (veg chili and lighthouse sandwich)
DHS - Backlot Express (grilled veggie sandwich)
AK - Restaurantasaurous (veggie burger)
Epcot - Tangerine Cafe (veg platter), Sunshine Seasons (veg platter)

I can tell you what I've had!

Sunshine Seasons - Roasted Beet and goat cheese salad. This is delicious!
Columbia Harbor House - Lighthouse Sandwich, hummus and broccoli slaw, it is so yummy! I couldn't believe how good it was!
Various veggie burgers around the world, love the places with toppings bars!

Then a variety of others I don't recommend!

Definitely do Picnic in the Park at AK ... the portobello veggie wrap was just okay (all nice and fresh, but I would have liked something else in it or a different dressing), but the tandoori tofu side was awesome (all the sides but one are vegetarian, I think), as was taking our meal and finding a picnic table in the shade by ourselves.

We thought Disney's veggie burgers were very good, they're Gardenburger California burgers on whole wheat buns. And the atmosphere at Restaurantosaurus is *definitely* worth going to, it's hilarious. We did end up having veggie burgers 3 times (at Restaurantosaurus, Liberty Inn, and our resort) but that was more laziness (didn't want to walk farther when food was right there). Like I said they were very good--I just wouldn't normally have 3 in a week.

At Pizzafari in AK we had breakfast of scrambled eggs, biscuit, and they let us have double hash browns instead of bacon. Another good QS breakfast we had was the make your own omelet at POR, which comes with hash browns. (POFQ, by the way, will not let you make any substitutions for their meaty breakfast sides ... in case you happen to be staying at either of those.)

Thanks for all the tips! My husband just became a vegetarian over the summer, so looking for vegetarian options at Disney is new territory for us!

Thanks, it does look like the vegetarian options make it not worthwhile to get the dining plan, so we'll just stick with paying as we go. I think we'll save more money that way.
