Any suggestions as to where the best vegetarian food can be found at the Animal Kingdom Park and Lodge? We're planning a long weekend (Friday to Monday) vacation at the AKL next month. :sunny: :sunny: We want to keep things relatively relaxed (i.e., enjoying a few sit-down meals and not trying to hit 3 parks in a day!), so we'll probably only visit the Animal Kingdom and Disney/MGM Studios parks, but suggestions for good veggie fare elsewhere would also be appreciated.

Try the grilled vegetable sandwich at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom (Africa). It's a great lunch for a vegetarian.

I've also heard good things about Jiko and Boma at AKL, but we have yet to try the food there (November is fast approaching though).

Check out Deb's WDW site for other vegetarian items on menus around WDW:

Good luck planning! :bounce:

We just returned from a 15 day trip on Aug 23. My sister is veggie and she said by far the best meal she had this trip for both variety & taste was at Boma's.

She had one great big smile on her face all through dinner. The great desserts didn't hurt either.

Teejay, one of the chefs, came to our table to talk to my husband about his diabetic restrictions. Teejay was wonderful! He didn't seem put out about 'special' diets at all. In fact when he found out Shannon was veggie, he became very excited. He said we should have told as he could have made even more veggie choices for her. She told him she had plenty to choose from and he said for her to promise him that if she came back to call him and he would make the dinner even more special.

Another vote for Tusker House. I loved their tabbouleh (I'm just not sure how to spell it).

Hi!
We always eat at the Rainforest Cafe at the Animal Kingdom. I LOVE the veggie burger there, one of the best I have ever had. They have many other vegetarian choices also, that is just my Favorite. Check out the menu from the above link!
I have also eaten several times at Jiko, which is a great resturant that also always has a vegetarian selection.
I have not had the chance to try Boma yet, but have heard many, many wonderful things on the boards.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for all the great suggestions. We'll definitely go to Tuskers for lunch and Boma for dinner one day. Rainforest Cafe sounds less appealing since there's one near home... but we haven't been there in several years, so maybe we'll try that too!
