Vegetarian child on DDP?

I have a question regarding children's menus and special diets on DDP -

Our whole family is vegetarian, but some places (both TS & CS) that have good veg options on the adult menu do not have any vegetarian options on the child's menu. I understand that a child on DDP has to order from the child's menu, but will they make substitutions if there is nothing on the child's menu that she can eat?

For example (the most frustrating, IMO) - Tangerine Cafe is usually our go-to CS in Epcot for the falafel & hummus platter, but the child's menu there only offers chicken tenders or hamburger. Would they do a smaller portion of the adult veg platter and let us use a child's CS credit for it?

We've never done DDP before but are hoping for FD for our trip this Fall. I just don't want to spend the trip struggling to find things for DD to eat.

My nephew is a vegetarian, and also has some allergy issues. My sister has said that sometimes at the TS, the chefs will get creative with options for him. It's not something you can count on, but I'm sure it's possible to get better options. I know he gets stick of macaroni and cheese. Also, with CS, I think you can just order any meal for anyone, it doesn't have to be a kids meal. I think CS credits are all the same. (or they have been in the past)

You can't order just any CS meal for anyone. If you have 2 adults and 1 child on your account, they may tell you that you can buy 2 adult and 1 child meals.

At any rate a decision was made on the Restaurant board not to allow discussions of using the children's credits for anything other than children's meals (except at restaurants that have no children's menu), because that is what Disney asks.

No reason not to ask for substitutions, stating that your child is a vegetarian. No idea what they will provide but they will likely allow something.

CS will likely allow a substitution if you explain your child's needs. I know they will modify an adult meal to make it vegetarian, so it follows they will do similaar for a child.

TS will almost definitely accommodate but best to plan ahead and call the restaurants you reserve to discuss it. It will give them the opportunity to be prepared! I am pretty sure you do this through the main switchboard and then ask to be connected to the restaurant itself, not to the reservation line.

Being a vegetarian at WDW is not difficult, I think a lot of first timers think this because a ton of chain restaurants either one option or very limited choices for people who live as a veggie.
However, I loved being a vegetarian at WDW there are a ton of QS locations with great healthy choices, and like the other posters have mentioned TS chefs will go out of their way to come over and talk to you to make you a special meal.

We had our wedding dinner in November at Flying Fish and my sister who is not really a vegetarian but a picky eater had the chef come out and ask her what type of food she likes, and then made her a unique meal. It was awesome, I've been a veggie as well for our past 2 trips to WDW and have yet to have a negative experience.

You'll be well taken care of.
