Has anyone had any of the CS 'Vegetarian Burgers'?? Any idea what they're made of or if they're good???

THANKS!! :thumbsup2

I've had the veggie burger - I think that they are the same at all of the CS places at WDW. It is decent - not great, but a decent option.

I would bet that it is some standard brand like Gardenburger or Morningstar Farms...I wonder now if you can call and ask.

FYI, there are a number of veggie options besides the veggie burger at CS places. I liked the Lighthouse Sandwich at Columbia Harbour House.

Have a great trip!

I eat several of the veggie burgers every trip and I think they may be a Boca. Not for sure, but that's what I think.

They are pretty good! My kids like them a lot so that says something!

But if it's vegetarian sandwiches you want don't miss the hummus and slaw sandwich at the Harbor House (I think that's the name of the restaurant, it's the one by the Haunted Mansion). It is the best sandwich EVER.

:sad1:Oh, the veggie burger saga. . .

I used to love the veggie burger option at WDW CS restaurants. The veggie burger used to be Boca brand----it had that 'flame grilled' taste that made it more like a real burger (but not). Now I believe they offer MorningStar veggie burgers------I had one at Peco's Bill's earlier this year-----it was more of a true 'veggie' burger vs. a veggie burger that mimicks a 'real' burger. Does this make any sense? It was just a little bland and too soft.

I happen to love Boca brand burgers. . .so I was a little disappointed in the change---in fact, only order one veggie burger this past trip. (the trip prior, it was a CS staple!)

(For MorningStar fans----the Black Bean Spicy Burger is awesome----but that has nothing to do with WDW!:confused3)

To each his/her own of course-----either brand is a quality product-----just up to your own personal taste. I just miss Boca!!!

I had the veggie burger at Pecos Bills. I agreed with the other posters that I am almost positive it was a Morningstar burger. I thought it was good but (as a pp said) a little too soft. I like them to be somewhat firm.

That being said, it was good enough that I would definetely order it again but I would make sure to put crunchier toppings on it (lettuce, raw onion, banana peppers etc) DH had prepped my burger at the fixing bar and only put sauteed mushrooms and onions so it was like eating a pile of mush. :headache: You definetely need some crunch to add texture.

Hope that helps!

I had one at Cosmic Rays (I think this is where it was) and it was fine. So often you get one and its terrible but this was definitely edible. I quite enjoyed it and will have no problem ordering it again next time.

WDW recently (sometime this year) moved to the Malibu Gardenburger. It's not available in retail stores, only available foodservice. It's actually the highest end product available on the Gardenburger line and made with organic ingredients....that being said, I can understand why if you like the flame grilled veggie burgers, you wouldn't like this one. They're on total opposite ends of the spectrum. In my experience, those that are hardcore vegetarians love this burger...those that like the occasional veggie burger because it's better for you? Not so much.

To be honest, I was surprised to hear WDW started using it because it's not the most popular burger. Whoever said the Morning Star Farm Black Bean Burger? Easily the most popular burger!

I don't know if they use it at all CS places, but they did switch this year and I believe they use it at most.

Don't ask me how I know, I just do...move along here :rolleyes1

We used to like them, but then last month, they seemed very different. A little dry with some hard bits in them. You'll just have to try them and see what you think. :)

My son loved that they served Boca, and will be very disappointed with the change. At Pop, the cook in that section of the food court said people were VERY happy with the veggie burger (a big boca), but not with the tomato jam that came on it! Wish they wouldn't always fix what isn't broken!

My understanding is that the newer veggie burgers are also vegan while the older ones weren't. I don't know if there's any truth to that.

Ok, I dont have alot of experience with veggie burgers a friend had told me that the one at Burger King was pretty good so I tried it and I like it as well as my DD12, is that anything like the ones they have in WDW? Does anyone know? Are they grilled or just heated up? I dont think I want a nuked veggie patty..lol

The one at Burger King is a Morning Star Farm patty...if you like them, you can buy them in the stores, just look for the green box.

I find the veggie burgers at WDW CS to be not very appealing, but I think it has more to do with how they are prepared rather than the burgers themselves. They always seem like the burger and bun were frozen together and then just microwaved, so often I end up with a smushy bun (not in a good way) and a hard, freezer-burned burger.

The worst offender has been Pecos Bill thus far. That burger was practically inedible it was so hard - like a hockey puck. Cosmic Rays has generally been decent. Not awesome, but with the right "fixings" not too bad.

My bf loves Boca burgers and you can't get them over here so he'll probably be a bit disappointed, though not to say he won't like the ones they're serving now :)

I wanted to know also especially the one at Pecos Bills!

Three of us vegetarians had this one in Aug 2007. We all thought it was gross. I am a Gardenburger fan the others prefer Grillers. That meal juust didn't suit us, our 5yo wouldn't even eat the fries. We won't go there next trip.

We also had one from the CBR food court that was OK. I would try it there again.

In Feb 2009 I had a plain one from the Pop food court and really enjoyed it. I would try that one again too.

The vegetarian sandwich we had at WDW in 2007 was the Basil Mozzerella sandwich from the Main Street bakery. We will definitely hit that place again. We'll use a child CS credit for it too. :woohoo:
